holy sh*t!  a new Muppet movie? 

The film will be in the tone of the classic Muppet films like The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, and Muppets Take Manhattan.

oh hellz yeah.  found some details about the plot, and it was originally called 'The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time'. 

The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time is about Gary, Mary, and Walter (a man, his girlfriend, and the man’s life-long nondescript, brown puppet best friend) getting the old Muppet gang — now retired entertainers known for the same Muppet show we know them from — together to save the TV studio that the original show was shot in. A villain, Tex Richman (nice name, on par with Doc Hopper), bent on drilling for oil underneath the studio, is due to take over the studio in weeks and the only way to stop him? Putting on a show that draws ten million viewers.

seriously, I can't wait to see a new Muppet movie that's like the first 2.

i think the last Muppet movie i saw was the Muppets Wizard of OZ,and Fozzie Bear kept cracking me up as the Cowardly Lion


i thought Muppets Christmas Carol was a good one as well..didn't see Treasure Island and didn't think much of Muppets from Space(I always thought Gonzo was an Aardvark/Anteater)

but yeah the best Muppets movie was 'The Great Muppet Caper' i think

that fozzie bear cowardly lion picture just cracked me up all over again

although it was a great movie i think Muppet Christmas Carol was the start of the downfall for Muppet movies(Jim Henson had died 2 years before),i dunno if they tried to recapture that by trying to do other great stories(Muppet Treasure Island or Muppet Wizard of Oz),but it didn't really work

I saw Muppets from Space,thought it was so-so....i used to think Gonzo was an Aardvark or Anteater,LOL

so i am glad that it says this one will be more in tone with the first few Muppet movies....although,it still needs Jim Henson and Frank Oz..and one is dead and the other is retired

It psyched you out by looking like a romantic comedy for the first part of the trailer. The guy screws up while on a trip to LA with his wife and forgets it is their anniversary. It looked like the movie was about fixing their relationship, don't remember anything about the studio.

Does not compute.  MPC was awesome.  How can something that was awesome be the start of the downfall of anything?  If you had said 'last hurrah' then I might be with you.

yeah last hurrah is probably a better description,i just meant that because of how great MCC was,they always tried to recapture that in the films after and always failed,going off traditional stories with a famous lead actor,instead of what they used to do and look like they are doing again now,their own story and with famous cameos

Return of the Jedi was awesome,yet that film contained Ewoks,that may of lead the way for Jar Jar Binks in The Phantom Menace that was not awesome

Jason Segel has become my Shia LaBeouf.  I wish he'd stop being in stuff.

Outside of his involvement I think it looks pretty awesome.  I couldn't help but laugh when this was playing in the car.   

There was some great classic stuff in the trailer, but why did Jason Segel have to be involved.

Wow, no one has commented on this now that it's out?

Saw it yesterday and loved it.  Absolutely recaptured the magic, IMO.  The trailers have been a little off, so I wasn't cinfident going in.

More importantly, I was worried about the music (especially with "We Built This City" featuring so prominently in the trailers [ugh]), but it's all toe-tappingly clever and fun.  I knew the Flight of the Conchords director was directing, but I didn't realize Brett McKenzie was doing the music.  It all has that Conchords feel. 

If you were ever a fan, go.  The Muppets are back.

As an adult viewer, I was ROTFL at two things:

Went to see it with my wife on thursday and had a good time. If you ever watched the Muppets you should enjoy this. Also, a lot of quick cameos to be on the lookout for.

While a lot of movies my wife and I have seen haven't lived up to the hype, we both loved The Muppets and thought that it was the best movie of the year.  It's exactly what you expect from a Muppet movie.

I saw the muppets last night. I was afraid after the first half of the movie that I had made a horrible mistake. The music numbers were overly cheesy and the story was dragging. But it improved immensely in the 2nd half, and I was in pain from laughing so hard at certain points.
