to be announced at San Diego Comic Con?

some people think this is about the upcoming Predator 3D blu ray release, but Predators did decent enough and Rodriguez has been saying he wants to do a sequel the last couple of years.  of course it could also be a separate story, not tied to the latest film.

Could they even be bringing Arnie back?

Yeah, they could make a very good modern take on this if they just completely ignore the original(s) and the related washed up actors.

Predators was pretty decent, so I'm all in for this.

I'd return to the source material only in terms of that it was imho cool to have ONE awesome predator stalking a team of supposedly invincible mercenaries in an isolated location. To me, most of the sequels fell into the More is Better trap, and then ultimately the "predators face a bunch of actors you've never heard of playing characters you don't care about."

I've seen Predators on basic cable about 27 times now. It's OK and smartly done on a shoestring budget ($40M) with "fallen from grace" actors who probably didn't need big paychecks (Topher Grace (!), Adrien Brody et al), but I don't know if you want to take a cue from that if you want a new blockbuster franchise (Predators made $52M domestically in 2010).

Comic-Con: ‘Predator 3D’ toy to feature fans’ decapitated heads
http://herocomplex.latimes.com/toys/comic-con-predator-3d-toy-to-feature-fans-decapitated-heads/#/2
Quote
The alien monster Predator is on the hunt for San Diego Comic-Con attendees.

To mark the 3-D Blu-ray release of the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring “Predator,” Fox is dedicating a jungle-themed booth to the film and its iconic extra-terrestrial.

“Predator” fans will be able to purchase custom-designed mini-figurines featuring their likeness. Because what fan wouldn’t want to see his or her own decapitated head, spine still attached, being held up by a Predator?

The action figures will be created using photographs of participants (taken at the booth) and 3-D printing. The figurines will be mailed to buyers after the convention. Click through the gallery above for a sneak peek.

The booth will also feature a Comic-Con exclusive “Predator 3D” head as well as the opportunity to preorder the Blu-ray. The release follows last year’s 3-D version of “I, Robot.”
This is, apparently, the Big Predator News at Comic-Con.  Roll Eyes As a comment at a Collider item on this says, "NO NO NO! WHY????"  icon_lol

Unless it's a setup feint...  icon_smile

If the sequel doesn't feature at least one goddamn sexual tyrannosaurus, I'm out.

Kudos for linking Predator 2 and Lethal Weapon through Danny Glover I guess, but I most certainly believe and understand why you're the first one to say that in this thread. slywink

It was a subtle reminder that the Predator 2 wasn't all sunshine and roses.  It did spawn this rather pointless playset though:
