Kinda interested to see how this turns out.

I like RDJ, and it's now in post-production and slated for a 2008 release. I don't mind Jon Favreau either.

For a moment I misread RDJ as RJD and wondered why Ronnie James Dio would be cast as Iron Man.

Though that would be awesome!

As long as it doesn't turn out like The Hulk... or The Fantastic Four... or The Punisher... or Ghost Rider... it should be ok.

Ghost Rider wasn't that bad.
Neither was The Hulk; it just wasn't the smashfest people wanted it to be.

Fantastic Four wasn't any worse than Transformers... it just had BIG CGI robots in it so somehow it elevated it in most peoples eyes. Yick.

Oh, and Sam Roberts kicks all kinds of ass.

I didn't see Ghost Rider, so I can reserve judgement.

The only good thing about The Hulk was the scenes with the Hulk in them.  Everything else about the story was awful (but I did like a lot of the camera tricks they did).  Heck, the new Hulk movie isn't even acknowledging the first movie even happened: it's not a sequel, it's a do-over.

FF was... pretty bad.  I saw the last 30 minutes of it last week, and... yeah, that was the opposite of good.  The Thing looked like a big orange turd, for starters, and having that warlock plastic surgeon crime fighter as Dr. Doom was... really not good, nor were all the liberties they took with the characters (different powers, origins, etc).

I was going to throw X3 on my bash list, but I haven't watched it.  I really lost interest after hearing about... what they did to one of the main X-Men.

Ghost Rider suffered from terminal flaming boredom.  Seemed like the writer/director simply had no idea how to handle the character. Fight scenes were all 30 seconds long and BORING.

I actually liked Hulk.  It was slow and had fairly awful pacing but I appreciate what Ang Lee was trying to do.

FF1 sucked, haven't seen FF2.  I thought FF1 suffered from "Jar-Jar Binks Syndrome." Ie. the need to be funny when funny wasn't called for. And not even actually managing funny most of the time.

Transformers was f'n awesome.  Mostly.

Sam Jackson as Nick Fury too I beleive. This could be pretty good. I feel comfortable trusting Farveau

He'd be a B list, someone like Deaths Head would be C.

Or Puck, or the X-Factor folks.

He has had his own comic for years... he's not A list (Superman, Spiderman, Hulk, Wolverine) but I would put him above Ghost Rider and Daredevil.

If you ignore the movies I'd say he's neck and neck with Ghost Rider.  Of course the Hulk just smashed Iron Man and Ghost Rider held his own.

Go ahead and add it anyway. I promise that someday down the road when you see it you'll hate it.

Fucking awful movie. Especially compared to the second one.

As for this, the bits I've heard have me somewhat excited.

That said it's hard for me to maintain any kind of optimism after the last few marvel movies. They've all been pathetic. X3 was horrid, Spider-Man 3 was pretty much terrible, and Ghost Rider wasn't worth one millionth of the money they spent making it. Ugh.

Iron Man has always been a pretty popular character.  He was also one of the two most pivotal characters in Marvel's recent "Civil War" storyline (the other being the late Captain America).

The trailer looks good- though I know not the story of Ironman....is he just a dude in a powersuit?....Anyway, anyone get an A-Team vibe from the trailer?

Bad Guy: I'm going to lock you in a room with all the tools you need to build something to escape and kick my butt and all the butts of all of  my men.  No one will check on you at all as you have been ordered to build a missile.

Good Guy: I won't do your bidding but thanks for not having anyone check on me and leaving me alone to build my super suit that I will use to escape and kick your butt and all the butts of all your men.

Bad Guy: You have 24 hrs to build my missile

Good Guy:  Bah! I'll use that 24 hours to build something impossibly complex that will make me tuff! You watch out!
