GI Joe is perhaps the absolute worse movie i've ever seen.   Went in expecting it to be bad, but it was far worse than i could have imagined.

Saw it on a plane ride home, and had to sit with my head in my hands for a few minutes afterwards...the movie actually made my brain hurt with its pure, raw stupidity.

Its better if you put the movie on mute...then you get the action, plus the two hot ladies smile  That was how I watch it, while browsing the web and typing email.

I still despise myself for buying a ticket to the piece of complete trash that was the first movie. No way do they get me for another one.

It would take a series reboot by Christopher Nolan or someone of his directing quality for me to even consider it.

F*ck Stephen Sommers. F*ck that guy right in the ear... with a jackhammer.

I went in expecting a movie based on an 80's cartoon used to sell plastic army man toys.   So my expectations were pretty low.   They could have called it Megaforce: The Next Generation as far as I was concerned.   icon_biggrin

Saw most of T2 this weekend. Fell asleep in hour 2. Woke up and told the wife I was turning it off. She was thrilled and only continued to watch it because she thought I was. If GI Joe is TF2 bad, then there is no way i'm watching it.

GI Joe is like T2 with even lamer writing and crap CGI. There are multiple moments in GI Joe that are even dumber than Sam going to robot heaven and conversing with the primes toward the end of Transformers 2.

You know... even just writing that last sentence burns a little.

Yeah that's right. You quit watching before that wonderful chunk of cinema. Don't you just feel terrible now?

I didn't really love either movie but I certainly think that is untrue.  What was dumber than the Sam thing?  At least GI Joe fit into the world it created.  There was nothing about the Transformers universe which suggested the Autobots were some kind of supreme beings with power over human life and death.

Jaume Collet-Serra (HOUSE OF WAX, ORPHAN, GOAL II, UNKNOWN)

F Gary Gray (THE ITALIAN JOB,. LAW ABIDING CITIZEN,   A MAN APART,  SET IT OFF)

Jon Chu  (JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER,  STEP UP 2, STEP UP 3D)

The debate is not over which film sucked giant horse dongs, but which did a better job of it.  One film merely went through the motions while the other went so far as to cradle the balls, stroke the shaft, work the head, and swallow the gravy.

The problem with movies is suspension of belief. If you ask your audience to accept a notion to validate your film, fine.

That validation doesn't give you the right to just change everything else at the same time, unless it was an expected result.

For instance Deep Blue Sea trumps either of them - you could actually see them resizing 4000+lb sharks to fit down hallways and bashing titanium reinforced walls at ~1km down with their mostly cartilage heads. Oh, and they had bigger brains so they could swim backwards... cuz, um, it was their ability to THINK that prevented that. Also, they knew what security cameras were. I bet, if asked, they were fluent in latin, and had no problems processing NTSC images.

I will grant you that having expert military covert robots not knowing how to blend in (see Sam's moms flower garden for reference) as a schtick for of one of my childhood heroes is pretty unforgivable, nevermind changing them to look like the result of a giant electromagnet flying down a GINSU manufacturing line is cause for scrutiny. The reason Bayformers suck so badly is that the plot is wafer thin and the fact that this wasn't about the Transformers, but merely about a boy and his love being interrupted by Transformers. They were stage props; in the established north american market both in movies and TV - they were the stars.

Dudes in high-tech suits flying through a bus was the *NOT* worst thing ever. GI Joe was a brainless action flick and its biggest crime was a lame plot. The Expendables was just as shallow and unbelievable and I'd put them right beside each other on my GAFOmeter. They are watchable, but shall likely never get more than the time they've already had in my life.
