somewhere Marlon Wayans ears just perked up.  hopefully they keep him well away from this attempt, and look at the previous attempts at making D&D a movie to realize what not to do:

1) no Marlon Wayans
2) no blue lipstick wearing bald people
3) no Marlon Wayans
4) no Marlon Wayans

If there is one property custom made for awesomeness it's Dungeon's and Dragons.

Have hellacious fights with swords and magic, dragons biting people in half.. Plot: Guy gets group of adventurers together to get a treasure from some evil guy (Venger?). Then it's nonstop action and fighting, maybe some light character development, awesome special effects (stay away Bay), maybe a little hide the half orc scene, people dying. etc.

And no computerized anything. Old school special effects.

$100,000,000 first weekend guranteed.

How much Sorbo will this film have?  I need to know a film's Sorbo factor before I can judge its quality

See that guy over in the corner crying?  That's the director of the Conan reboot...

This movie has scriptwriter David Leslie Johnson attached to it in a big way. I didn't care much for his Wrath of the Titans or Red Riding Hood scripts, but his Orphan script was damn good. Unfortunately that was from a completely different genre. Still, it sounds like Warner Bros is putting some big $ behind this, so it might have a chance at being decent.

Red Riding was just god awful.  I made it about 15 minutes into the film before I decided that turning my chair around and staring at a light switch was a better use of my time...

Nice.  I don't want to know what happens when you flip the light off and on rapidly.

Yeah, here's hoping he produces something along the lines of his better screenplays as opposed to his lesser/dismal efforts. I have my doubts because when Johnson writes a dud it's truly craptastic, but his Orphan script gives me some hope.

I thought that movie was supposed to be an attempt to make a new Twilight-like franchise, so I skipped it altogether.

That's pretty much what it was.  I caught it on showtime or something one night and thought I'd give it a shot because...well..werewolves.  Huge mistake on my part.

Something about head towards the light, a burning bush, and the four horsemen coming?

I prefer the classics.  So that's why An American Werewolf in London is always at arm's length at my place for such an emergency.  I also reach for 30 Days of Night whenever I get depressed about the state of Vampires in modern film.

Necroing this thread just in case anyone missed this news from about 6 months ago. It looks like this movie is going no where, as Hasbro aka Hasblow also had plans for a new D&D movie with Universal studios. The film linked in the OP was a deal that the producer of the original movie (Courtenay Solomon-Sweatpea Ent.) had made with Warner Bros. Hasblow has filed law suit to block the Sweatpea-Warner Bros deal and Sweatpea has file a counter suit.

Apparently Hasblow granted all rights in perpetuity -doh!- to Sweatpea Ent for films based on the D&D license. Meanwhile Hasblow claims that those rights reverted since Sweatpea only made 1 theatrical release (the truly craptastic 2000 film) and 2 TV movies. Yeah well....this is going to be in the courts for some time and I doubt we'll be seeing a new D&D movie anytime soon.

Dan Harmon should write all Dungeons and Dragons related material for tv and film.

One of my favorite werewolf movies, nay my favorite, is Gabriel Knight- the Beast Within. Sure it was an FMV game, but if you sit back and watch the story, it a good one.

I could do with a decent CGI movie.

Apparently it needs to be better than that Dragonlance movie that came out though. Haven't seen it yet but apparently it's atrocious.
