He would be a good choice as long as he plays the role straight.  He is heavily identified with the "Jack Sparrow" type role these days but he has the skill and it would be nice to see him go in a different direction.  Playing Dr. Strange just might be the perfect role for him.

CeeKay called it.

Now that JGL is tied up with Sandman (my hands spasmed just writing that), he's off the Strange docket.

OTOH...Two different sources are saying that Doctor Strange has already been cast, and it's not Depp at all but, IMO, an inspired choice.  Someone who has already proven he can play a bit of a prick who can learn a lesson, with a clear sense of humor and good looks.  Someone who hasn't been mentioned here yet, but who can absolutely nail this part.

Spoiler for Hiden:

Jon Hamm

Depp felt like a safe choice.  This one just feels right.

Just watched him last night in...

Spoiler for Hiden:
A Young Doctor's Notebook series with Daniel Radcliffe for SKY Arts(Series 1=3 episodes @ 23 minutes each/Series 2=4 episodes @23 minutes each)

I love Jon Hamm,so i would be very happy if he turned out to be THIS Doctor icon_wink

He's a good choice, of course, but I will miss my image of Jon Hamm.

I wonder if Cumberbatch will be doing an American accent.

Even with a British accent his voice still matches what I imagine Dr. Stanges voice to sound like, plus he's tall and skinny like Dr. Strange. It seems like a really good casting choice.

As I say, he's a good choice.  My only hesitation is that he's becoming a little too ubiquitous.

After seeing a mockup of him in the outfit, I would have been happy if they had picked Joaquin Phoenix.

I think Joaquin was their first choice, but talks broke down for some reason.  Seemed like he would look the part too, I agree.

Put a rubber band around it and tighten it until the pain stops.  Wait two weeks until it falls off.  Take two aspirin abd call your doctor.

I got this answer from the always knowledgeable Yahoo answers site.

Why isn't Hollywood making a film about HIM?  Give the people what they want, damn it!

TV Trailer

With a bit of comedy (no doubt courtesy of script doctor Dan Harmon).  My biggest problem with these clips to date is how overly serious they seem to be.

I read good things from fans, a certain amount of "meh" from mainstream critics. So maybe Marvel movies are becoming more like DC's?  icon_smile And various handwringing over "whitewashing" and giving Asian cast members thin supporting roles etc.

I'm strangely -- get it? STRANGELY? -- smirk  retard disinterested, just never read the comics.

I'm sure I'll get around to seeing it some time but you probably don't have to worry about me running out opening night or seeing it 3 times in 3 days.  Bring your own! Maybe those days are over for me. I loved Star Trek Beyond but never really felt any impetus to run back and see it again. Maybe ticket prices finally turned that part of my brain off.

Uh, 91% at Rotten Tomatoes is "meh"?

Saw it last night- it's now my favorite Marvel Movie to date. Not even CLOSE to being like a DC movie.

I am going Tuesday since it is $5 (and a free small popcorn!) and when you have to take the kids it is worth it.

I expect to enjoy it but I wonder if it will be too trippy and confusing for the kids to figure out.

Wife and I saw it last night and both liked it.... Very good movie for us.
Definitely had some very trippy scenes... Possibly drug induced...
We saw it in 3D and the scenes with the scenery twisting and turning almost made her sick. was very borderline for her. I was fine though.

I saw it in IMAX 3D this afternoon...really cool movie. The visuals and action are awesome. They do a great job of establishing the character and open up the possibilities of a lot of really cool things for the future MCU films. My only complaint would be that the actual plot is pretty sparse and the bad guy pretty cookie-cutter, but it hardly matters when everything else is so well done. While it's not my favorite or the best Marvel film, it's definitely another very solid entry.

I highly recommend that anyone going to see this find a 3D showing. This is a film that really takes advantage of the medium and has very cool visuals that look great in 3D.

I usually don't go the 3D route, but I've been hearing that IMAX 3D is used so well that I will be making an exception tomorrow when I see it.  The last two times IMAX 3D has impressed me was Avatar and Dredd.
