IGN ran this quote from The Times of India:

"[Director Christopher] Nolan and [Christian] Bale had arrived in India on May 4 and had shot for The Dark Knight Rises in front of and inside Jodhpur's Mehrangarh Fort on May 6 and 7. Accompanying Bale on this India trip was Josh Pence, the actor who was digitally superimposed with Armie Hammer's visage to portray one half of the Winklevoss twins in David Fincher's The Social Network. Pence was recently cast as young Ra's Al Ghul and is one of Batman's greatest enemies. Incidentally, a green screen was created just outside the Fort. Nolan shot in front of the green screen and used the Fort as the backdrop. Sources say that this backdrop of the Fort has been used to establish that Batman is in an exotic location which is isolated too. However, this backdrop isn't meant to be shown as India in the film. Back in the UK studios, this 30 ft x 30 ft green screen will be digitally modified to create the Lazarus Pit. For those not in the loop, a Lazarus Pit is used by Ra's Al Ghul for gaining restorative powers. Scenes of Bale being carried into the pit and then jumping out of it were also canned. A couple of locals were cast as extras in the scenes that were shot in India."

So there. 

Actually, IGN also points out that the fan site who posted the picture thinks it's more likely about Bane:

"Eyewitnesses and crew members told us of a particular scene being filmed, where a bald-headed child wearing ragged clothes emerges from the well and pulls his hood over his head. From the conversations, we reckon this is a young Bane, emerging from a vat of Venom, trained by Pence's Ra's al Ghul. The years of addiction to Venom builds him to be a massive monster with amped up senses, intelligence and physical prowess."

My only Deep Thought is that while the Joker is an archetypical villain EVERYbody knows (even most people who've never read a single issue of the comic), I don't know anything about Bane at all and I suspect many casual fans don't. I wasn't reading the comics during his era/introduction. For a movie, that could be good (fresh canvas to work with, not fighting so much peoples' expectations).

They're filming in my hometown (Pittsburgh), and the rumor has been going around that one of the reasons they're filming in the 'burgh is because they're getting permission to blow up the Civic Arena.   Not digitally, but, like, really...kaboom.

I wouldn't be too hard on teaser trailers. That's the point. It's a "tease," and often there isn't enough footage available yet to do something more detailed. In today's world, people on the Internet in general seem to want to start Tweeting complaints about hair follicle measurements and moustache hair shading and costume nitpicks. Be glad Nolan's still working on it and didn't tell WB to take a flying leap.

imho teasing movies a year before release borders on ridiculous but if game publishers can tease games years and years before their release (for example) then I suppose a year waiting for a movie isn't so ridiculous, right?

He tells someone offscreen -- it's pretty clear that he's talking to Batman -- that people believed in him, but then, suddenly, "You were gone. Now there is evil rising. The Batman must come back."

From offscreen, Christian Bale's voice -- and this sounds specifically like his Bruce Wayne voice, which could indicate that Gordon has figured out Batman's true identity -- says, "What if he doesn't exist anymore?" Gordon, sounding like a man who hears his own death rattle: "He must...he must..."

the question is would the studio let him do something like that and just plan for a reboot a few years down the road?  Most of the Batman movies have been cash cows for them, so you know one way or another there will be more.

Well, in the comics Bane does break Batman's back. Though I certainly hope it doesn't end that way, it very well could.
