My 2.5 year old just asked "watch a show? show with ponies? horsies?" We have no such show. I countered with "How about this one? It has elephants and monkeys!" (Born to be Wild) Her: "and horsies too?" So ok. I need a show with horsies. Any recommendations? Preferably one that I can have playing in the background several hundred times without me wanting to chuck my TV out a window?

Horse Crazy is rated G and on Netflix Watch Instantly. There are tons of versions of Black Beauty, all of which would require disc acquisition. National Velvet is G and from 1944 with Elizabeth Taylor and Mickey Rooney.

I take it Warhorse would not be a good choice See,like Warhorse,i only know the serious Horse films, like Hidalgo which i liked(Viggo Mortensen)...Not seen Seabiscuit, but again i don't think that would be up your Daughters tree Have Disney not done any cartoon movies a with a Horsey in? Just show her some re-runs of Mr Ed ..a talking Horse would blow her mind!! You know,i bet she would be just as happy,if not more if you get a film with a Unicorn in,there must be hundreds of Unicorn films(I recommend Blade Runner,LOL) Talking about Ridley Scott,i think Legend has a Unicorn in it,however it also has Tim Curry as that Demon thing and that scares the shit out of me now,so i think we can skip that However if it has to be Horses, then ...go safe

There's The Saddle Club, but maybe it's for slightly older kids http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/The_Saddle_Club/70244569?trkid=2361637MLP: FiM seems like the kind of thing that a little girl would watch over and over.

My 3 year old daughter loves watching Tangled from Disney. The horse plays a major role. If you like dressage, there's always Horseland.

My 3 year old daughter loves watching Tangled from Disney. The horse plays a major role. Son of a bitch. She was almost certainly asking for Tangled, now that you mention it. Specifically, she was probably talking about the Tangled short about the horse and the chameleon that's on the Cinderella bonus features. She loves it. Damn, total toddler-translation fail on my part.

Just play Dynasty Warriors (fill in number here, think latest is 7) and play as LuBu... Red Hare is fantastic, and is sure to keep your kid entertained.

My daughter and I watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic together. I actually really enjoy it. I'm such a kid in an adult body.

Probably a little too advanced for a toddler, but at 6 and 8 my kids loved both Sea Biscuit and Secretariat. They didn't get all the nuances of course but during the racing scenes my 6 year old would look at me wide eyed and say 'my heart is going CRAZY!' But Tangled is probably more the speed of a 3 year old girl.

My Little Pony episodes seem to be all up on youtube, so I gave one a try with my daughter last night. Gigantic smile and wide-eyed excitement the whole way through. I guess it's now just a matter of time before I start attending brony parties.

Clarification: this refers to my daughter, not me It didn't seem that bad, though. I didn't know there would be song & dance numbers, and the silly & lengthy names crack me up (Rainbow Sunshine Singalong Moonray, did you meet with Shining Sparkle Shield Thunder Bumpkin Smilealot yet? I bet Shining Sparkle Shield Thunder Bumpkin Smilealot would want to join you on your picnic, Rainbow Sunshine Singalong Moonray.) but overall the show doesn't seem too bad. Some kid shows are just godawful (Cat in the Hat, looking at you) and some are fantastic (Pocoyo). I can't stand watching the former, but the latter is almost as entertaining to me as it is for my daughter. Hopefully Friendship is Magic really does have the universal appeal it's rumored to have.

It's good enough to get John de Lancie to voice a role, and then appear in a Brony documentary.
