now being developed as a 're-imagining of the concept'.  not sure what there is to re-imagine, you have a cop, he travels through time...

Although I loved the movie (saw it in theaters twice, and have it in DVD  Bring your own!), and think it and Sudden Death the following year (also directed by Peter Hyams) were Van Damme's closest things to 'real actor' performances, imho, just put a real actor in the remake and maybe have a less one note villain than Ron Silver's politico, and you might have a better movie.

As I recall, Van Damme suffered a serious injury during stunt work on Sudden Impact, which seemed to deflate the "crossover appeal" (from martial arts movies) that movie and Time Cop generated a bit.

But like Total Recall, we'll probably just get a forgettable remake with some current pretty faces. I predict Channing Tatum as Max, Jessica Biel as wife Melissa and Zoe Saldana as partner Sarah...

btw, ABC aired a short-lived Timecop TV series in 1997-1998:

On paper, the show had a talented writing staff, including the guys behind Smallville.

Also, Justin Timberlake in Ron Silver's villain/politician role, since Justin will want to make sure Jessica doesn't run away with Channing.  Fabulous
