So what if Lost is wrapping up? There will soon be a new round of hapless castaways to follow now that Warner Bros. has announced plans to make a movie out of Gilligan's Island, the '60s sitcom about seven folks stranded on an uninhabited Pacific island after their tour boat wrecks in a storm.

Series creator Sherwood Schwartz has mentioned Michael Cera as a dream actor to play Gilligan and Beyoncé as a possible choice for curvaceous movie star Ginger Grant, but there's no official word yet on any casting

Karl Urban as the Professor would be awesome. I can't recall seeing him in many comedies, but after Star Trek I'm convinced he can play just about any role well.

Actually, Philip Seymour Hoffman strikes me as a good choice for the Skipper. He's just about the right age and looks about right even has the right timbre in his voice.

I figured I would go with an underdog for the role of Gilligan. Don't think Bob Denver was known before this role. Fred Ewanuik might not be familiar to everyone, but would be recognizeable to Canadians and Corner Gas fans alike, and he can pull off the bumbling very well.

I completely agree about Philip Seymour Hoffman as Skipper - another actor I cant' recall having seen in any comedies, but so versatile I'd bet he'd pull it off nicely.

"Dude," I'm 33.  Both of those shows were before my time.  But I had Nick at Nite and TBS to expose me to both shows.
