yep, they want to make a movie based on the games.  I wonder if they'll base it off the storyline from a previous NfS game or come up with something entirely new that could be fast and furious on the screen.

looks like this hasn't died:

Quote
DreamWorks Studios‘ feature film based on the Electronic Arts video game franchise will be released wide by Disney on February 7, 2014. DreamWorks offically acquired feature film rights to the property last month after setting Act Of Valor co-director Scott Waugh to direct. George and John Gatins developed the original story and George is writing the script; John is producing with Mark Sourian. Need For Speed was the first major project expenditure DreamWorks made once the company came out of suspended animation while waiting for Reliance to invest cash in a re-up. The video game series has sold more than 140 million units worldwide.

Michael Keaton joins the cast.  I wonder if he'll make any Batmobile references....

I'm surprised Micheal Bay isn't in on this.

He's directing and in post for Pain and Gain, which drops in April, and pre-production for Untitled Transformers Sequel, not to mention producing The Purge.

I like Aaron Paul a lot in Breaking Bad and think he is perfect for that role, but I really don't think he knows how to act any differently or better.

No wonder he's crashing his car all the time. You can clearly see near the start of the trailer he can barely see over the steering wheel.

saw the trailer during Breaking Bad last night.  it seems a bit formulaic tbh, like a Vin Diesel movie spliced with Driver.  I expect this to tank after the first weekend.  I hope Aaron Paul doesn't get too type cast, bitch.

Certainly doesn't look amazing, but then again there have been 6 Fast and Furious movies that looked as bad or worse in trailers and I guess they seem to find an audience and be successful.

I realize its difficult to come up with original concepts for Hollywood movies these days but holy crap!  That trailer is quite possibly the most cliche' ridden piece of film ever produced in the history of mankind.

So I scored an early copy of the movie and put up a review on it:  http://www.gamingtrend.com/reviews/need-for-speed-this-movie-is-supercar-porn/

The plot is tired, but uhm...there's almost no CGI in this movie.  0_0   That kinda takes the crazy stunts to a new level for me.

I watched this on a plane a couple months ago and thought it was good for what it was.  Lots of cool cars going fast and doing crazy stuff.  Plot was lame/predictable, but that was to be expected.
