I'm going through my 7 long boxes of comics that I accrued from 2001-2004 and hoping against hope that I can get a substantial portion of my investment back. All told, I have probably 4 boxes of DC, two of Marvel and one of independents.

I will be keeping my Hedge Knight comics from George R. R. Martin and am toying with hanging onto Sojourn, Powers, and Rising Stars, but I don't know...

I spent the last half of the 90s in the throes of Magic cards and other assorted card games (Anybody want to buy a sealed case of Middle Earth: The Wizards starters?) before deciding that I would never again play something that worked on the rarity scale. And trust me, there were temptations when the miniatures gaming started taking off.

Instead, after spending a sufficient time exposed to a long-time comic book geek at a former job, I started reading comics again. And it seemed like every time I turned around, there was a new book coming out that looked interesting or some mini-series with my favorite characters. I wound up with something like a $40/week habit. Getting fired from my job was the only thing that stopped me.

All told, I'm looking at close to 1000 individual issues and hoping I can get $1 per out of them. Anybody sufficiently deep into the comic business to know the state of the market? My Dad has a guy at work that's interested in them and I've been working on compiling the list. I will post it here when I'm done.

If I can't get a sufficient price that makes me happy from him, I may forego a trip to see Texas Tech play Oklahoma State to try my luck with the dealers at Wizard World Texas.

I have three boxes of comics from the late 80's. I enjoyed them as comics and try not to think about any increase in value. Every 5 or 10 years I will spot check a few of the titles out of curiosity. This 12 part mini-series was always one of my favorites even if they're not worth anything now.

Did you get fired for reading too many comic books? smile

The only comics I ever got into were the Archie series.  And most of those I borrowed from my friend.  I loved them then, and even now at 29 years old I would happily read through more if I had any.

No, although if that had been the case, at least there would have been cause.

You mentioned you had some Independent comics. Are any of those by chance Dark Horse's Tales of the Jedi series or Images' Walking Dead series? If they are I'd definitely be interested in taking them off your hands.

I have all of the Firefly related comics, plus Buffy, Angel and Spike but nothing else (Joss is, in fact, my master)... well I also have a LOT of TPBs including all existing hardcover Ultimate Spiderman. I really need to get rid of them all and stop buying more. Really I do. Maybe we can form a support group?

My Dad's got a lead on a guy that might be interested in buying them.  If not, maybe we can hit Wizard World in a couple weeks and see if any of the dealers are interested.

Well, if you do post them, I'll take a look. I'm doing comics, but my pull-list is only like 6 or 7 issues a month now, so it's not demanding too much money. Plus I still buy some tpbs. Of course my comic art collection is more pricey... although I've been good and selling things as of late in case I make any big future purchases.
