I only know what's in the article, but this seems pretty amazing.

Might be a good way to get a cheap computer in my kid's hands.

fwiw, you can get a raspberry pi 2 and a working linux distro for about $50 and basically have the same setup with a lot more options in terms of OS and different builds.  Emulation, programming, network attached storage, wifi access points and full routers, home automation, touchscreen support and network cameras.

I've been interested in something like this for a while (HDMI computer sticks have been around for a little while).  I'd like to install Kodi on one and make it into a full fledged media server.  But most of the released sticks have been android based, or have had issues with overheating and other problems when they offer a linux version. I may just go ahead and grab a chromebox.  But I'd like to see reviews from folks who try to create a media server out of this intel stick first.

Already preordered smile

No idea what I will do with it but it just seemed too cool to pass up.

We also have a Raspberry Pi here at work.  Definitely a cool product/idea, I wish this kind of thing was around when I was a teenager.

In terms of simplicity and ease of entry, though, I am expecting the Intel Stick to be a better choice.  I love the idea that it plugs right into an HDMI port, effectively turning any (modern) TV into a full fledged Windows computer that I'm already familiar with.   I'm still wondering if it will need a separate power supply or if it is powered through the port like other similar sticks.

What's going to suck though is trying to fit a GTX 980 SLI setup in the case.   icon_cry

It is very cool. Amazing to think its a fully functional PC. Still, can't think of a use for it. Tablets are more powerful and I don't need a monitor to use one.

Would this be powerful enough to stream Steam?

Will it play Minecraft?

That's about the most important question for it. biggrin

I like other people to make my games, so not the most important question for me.  I'm pushing my kids to embrace minecraft though and do see the appeal
