I thought that Freeman sitcom was more recent. Probably for the best.
Notice, too, that the ep you listed is "Hounds of Baskerville" - they didn't lose an 's', it just got moved.

The saddest thing about this season is once the 3 movies are done, what then? It could be awhile before we see anything new as both Freeman and Cumberbatch are very involved in The Hobbit right now.
I'll be keeping an eye on Amazon UK for the blu ray release near the end of this month. May is too far away!
edited to add: I checked Amazon UK for the pre release information, it will be released on January 23rd. There is a boxed set of both series 1&2 being released on blu-ray for about $40, not a bad price for what amounts to 6 movies.

give it a month or two and they will probably be finished filming The Hobbit, and start on the SFX for the films,LOTR was filmed from October 1999-December 2000,and the first of the trilogy was released the December after I think i read that they expect filming(of The Hobbit) to be 370ish days and they started in March 2011,prolly get call backs for pick ups etc,but i am sure they could be worked around if needed Freeman apparently signed on to The Hobbit on the terms that he be let go to make Sherlock, which is what happened for these episodes found this as well: Martin Freeman is up for series 3Martin Freeman is hoping there will be a third series of Sherlock and that the show will be around for a long time yet.
“It’s the first thing I’ve done in a while that I’ve thought, ’I’d like to do more of this’,” he told Walesonline. “This has legs because the people who put it together know the original stories inside out.”
He added: “I’d be the first to say, ’Let’s just stop now’, because then no one can take it away from you, but I honestly think and hope that it goes on for as long as it’s right to.”

The series seems to be quite popular. I have no idea how its doing in the ratings in the UK but I know it did great on BBC America and the reviews for the series on disc are predominately 5 star on Amazon. The series looks like a winner financially, hopefully it gets many more seasons.
I went ahead and preordered the two series set so i should have it by the beginning of February. It ended up being just under $40 shipped to the US.

Sherlock wasn't on BBCA, IIRC. PBS got the rights.

I just googled 'watch Sherlock series 2' and a shitload of entries came up,i would imagine they used one of those, but its very dodgy if you ask me There is only one thing that is kind of annoying me of Sherlock and that is that pretty much every episode there is a 'Are They Gay' inquiry/moment,it was fine in the first episode and was quite funny, but i just read that there is another 'Are They Gay' moment in Hounds next week after there being one last week and more than once in the last series as well...i don't think Morse/Lewis had this trouble

just watched tonight's episode,Hound of the Baskerville and i have just read some online reviews as well(4 to be exact)
the reviews continued to be very positive, and yes i did like the episode, but IMO(so it seems),it was one of the weakest up to now
still some great scenes however, and Cumberbatch and Freeman are still great to watch together
The preview of next week's episode(The Reichenbach Fall) looks to be a good one

Good episode, powerful ending if anyone ever doubted Andrew Scott as Moriarty in the last series, myself included...all doubts will be nicely erased by the end of this episode, all 3(Cumberbatch,Freeman and Scott)were brilliant best lines of the show(it's in spoilers but doesn't spoil any of the actual plot, its for those who don't want any of the episode spoiled in anyway)

You wont see a season 3, at least not in its current form. CBS has bought out the rights and will produce it in Hollywood. They will recast Holmes and Watson, using Snooki and Shaq. On the plus side, they have agreed to cast Cumberbatch and Freeman in the new CSI: London series. Ok, maybe not, but CBS has optioned a pilot for a new series based on an original concept to bring Holmes and Watson into the 21st century. In New York. This will not end well.

About the CBS show - its going to be interesting if BBC will sue, since CBS wanted to convert it to the US audience and talked with BBC about it, but it all came to nothing, and now they are doing their own? Lets just say BBC is watching closely.

Due to a personal family tragedy, I hadnt watch any of this until last nite.
I was very impressed with the first season 2 episode. It shows that TV doesnt have to be boring paint by numbers sit coms or reality shows. you can actually put something out with depth and intelligence. You can see why Cumberbatch is Britain current hot new actor, he was fantasic in this episode, as was Freeman. Even Mrs Hudson shines. From the writing to the casting this is some of the best TV Ive ever experienced. The added bonus of watching it in HD on blu ray was nice though i did have some audio issues, with the sound dropping out on me several times. I may return the disc I bought if that contiues through the series and get the americanized version instead.

You can say it all you want, but nobody needs the Beebs' permission to air a show featuring a public domain character. For that matter, CBS produced and aired a 2 hour pilot for a TV series about a modern day Sherlock Holmes twenty-five years ago. As long as CBS can point to similarities to the BBC edition as being represented in the Doyle stories, there's very little case to be made.

Simon Pegg @simonpegg
Here's fun - "This is Benedict on Simon's twitter. Hello world, excited about bringing Sherlock series 2 to PBS on Sunday. Hope you enjoy." Ohh found this as well http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2012-05-04/benedict-cumberbatch-there%27s-room-enough-for-two-sherlocks,-so-why-not-threeBenedict Cumberbatch has welcomed the existence of the upcoming American Sherlock Holmes drama Elementary, saying that it would be “churlish or bitter” of him to feel otherwise.
Speaking at a Q&A about Sherlock in New York City, the actor responded to a PBS executive's snide comments about the rival production by saying: “As we already know with the Downey Jr. movie franchise that there’s room enough for two, so why not three? Asked what his dream project would be, Cumberbatch said: “It would be nice to do a film of Sherlock Holmes, wouldn’t it?”

Ive seen these on region free blurays and they are every bit as good as the first season and strangely similar in quality. The first episode is fantastic, the second is the weakest of the three but still quite good and the third knocks it out of the park. If they can keep the quality at this level I hope they do these for years.

I generally agree with your assessment, although I thought episode 2 of series 2 was better than episode 2 of series 1. I know for sure that there will be a series 3, but I am not sure if there will be more. Both of the stars love the show, but are both poised to become big stars.

if they are going off the timeline of the novels, the last episode in series 2 is roughly half way, perhaps not even that(Episode 3 of series 2 is adventure 26 out of roughly 60-if you include The War Service of Sherlock Holmes)..if they carry on this way,i can see at least another 2 series not that much of a spoiler really,if you know your Sherlock Holmes stories and know which episodes are featured in this series and yeah i agree that the episode 2s are the weakest of both series

Q&A with Cumberbatch: http://www.indiewire.com/article/sherlock-benedict-cumberbatch-talks-the-sleuths-sexuality-and-how-his-own-stock-has-increasedWhere things differ in the second series is that Steven and Mark [Gatiss, co-creator] started to write to my strengths and also to test me as well. I said, "For God's sake, don't let me do more of the same."
At the beginning they thought of me as a good fit, but they had already written the pilot episode by the time I was meeting them. I did a little reading for them in a living room where I was given tea and biscuits. I actually had a biscuit, which is very not Sherlock Holmes. I thought I might lose the job because of that!
So I think they catered to me more in the second series, especially with regard to relationships -- such as the relationship between Mrs. Hudson and Holmes. Steven saw how familiar we were. Mrs. Hudson is like my mom on set; I mean that in the best possible sense. My mom's a wonderful woman, and she mothers me when she doesn't need to. Mrs. Hudson is of the same generation. Steven saw that closeness and care and added that into the second series, as you'll see. Stumbled into it while leafing through Flipboard.
