Just caught some of this last night, basically a few episodes in a row.  I hadn't watch in a few years.  Holy crap.

I've missed so much crap.  Clark's destiny is to be a bad guy?  His father is actually evil?  What the hell?

And what did Lex do to piss Clark off?  Obviously the friendship is over.

Do him and Lois find Chloe?  Or is that something that hasn't happened yet?

I know they are set against it, but they NEED to do more flying.  That was just awesome.

I think the episodes last night were the S3 finale and the S4 opener, if that helps you get your bearings.  Yes, you've missed a lot.

And yeah, the flying was cool.  I hope they find more excuses to use it despite their policy of "no flight, no tights" for Clark on Smallville.  Note that "Kal-El" flew, not "Clark."

the first episode of the this season was an important watermark for the series.

...it marks the spot where the show stops trying to be good and turns into some weird ass mixture of Dawson's Creek, Charmed, and light gay porn.

my advice?  avoid it like the plague from here on out.  

well, you may want to watch the infamous "lana is a witch" episode just so you can mentally mark in time the exact moment the writers were fired and replaced with donkeys wearing hats.

Yeah, the witch episode was.... suboptimal.  I like Lois though.
