Think I'll have to hop on for at least 1 map to meet my game of UT a month quota that I've been doing.
I really should start playing at least a few rounds each weekend. Mix up my CS:S with some UT so it doesnt go all stale on me.

i was looking at the stats page tonight and noticed we've come up on a couple more interesting milestones for the server... first, you guys broke 2000 Player Hours tonight (2004 to be exact). on top of that, it looks like we'll log our 3000th match sometime in the next couple nights of play...only 16 matches away. i'll be back in a couple days to do my part! |

Given that recently we've shown that we still have quite a few people interested in UTing, just trouble getting all of us together at once, I've decided to give my 'season' idea a go, if we have enough interest. Here's an overview of what I've got in mind:
-Players sign up, and agree to be available for three 3-round matches per each 2-week period. Each match up to 10 points on a random selection of maps. (ie about 60 minute time committment/2 weeks at max, spread out over three nights)
-Once we have a list of participants, I would come up with a rough schedule, determining who each player's opponents would be each week. Players would then come up with agreeable times to play their matches among themselves.
-If a player sweeps the 3-match set, they get 5 points; 2 wins = 3 points, 1 win = 1 point.
-Match participants report their match IDs to me, and I update our standings.
-At the end of the season (long enough for each player to play each other at least once), we hold a playoff based on regular-season point totals.
Anyone interested? We've got 7 so far from OO.

Couple more details now that I've worked out a rough schedule:
-12 players will be our limit just to avoid scheduling nightmares for me
-If we go with 2-week periods, 3 matches per period, each player faces each other twice, we're looking at finishing up the playoffs at the end of May. If that's a problem for anyone, we can do 7 or 10-day periods, or face each other only once. If you can't play through May, let me know now rather than later.
-Top 8 players make the playoffs, and are seeded according to regular season point total. Playoffs take the form of a 1v1 tourney similar to my previous tourneys.

I was thinking (yes thinking!), and that's a hell of a long time for a season. Even if we just face each other once, that's still 11 matches, and 33 games. Should be enough. In that case we'd finish March 27; sound good? We had some OOers with conflicts with a season that didn't end till June, so this schedule looks like it'll be the real one.
