ok guys i got the regualr dvd edition but i'm getting a critical error as soon as i start to install.
the error says something like "failed reading source file...............(the parameter is incorrect)"
The media source may be bad. If installing from a cd please clean the to remove any dirt, check your cd drive or try again.

I've been installing and uninstalling games on this drive weekly without ever seeing a message like this.  Any help?

Suxxon!  That definitely sounds like a media error.  You wouldn't happen to have a 2nd drive around that you could hook up and test?

Alright i got it working!  I'm downloading all the mods now.  Might now get around to playing till tomorrow night.  Got a couple quick questions about the downloads though.........
there seems to be 2 links for the community bonus packs, the first being the link you have that says "community bonus pack 2 volume 1 and 2 and the other a link that says cbp1.  is those the same mod or do i need them both?  also the "community bonus pack 2 vol. 1 and 2" link takes me to just 1 single download, is that correct?  is vol. 1 and 2 together in the same download?

The CBP's are different.  The latest CBP1 is (I think) a lot of the old favorites from previous Unreal Torunament's updated for UT2k4.

Regardless of what they are or where they come from, I can confirm they are indeed different.

My UT2K4 download folder is well over 1GB now.  Have fun downloading!

i guess this can be a little confusing, so i'll try to make some sense out of it all...

Community Bonus Pack 2 was released a few months back in two "Volumes" and consists of all-new maps for UT2K4...you have to download both Vol 1 and Vol 2 to have all of CBP2 (two large, separate files).  Community Bonus Pack 1 was originally created for UT2K3, but a version modified for UT2K4 was recently made available.  we now have both CBP1 and both volumes of CBP2 installed on the server.

the thing that confuses this issue now is that they've changed the site that the CBP2 link goes to...it now goes to an overall site for both CBP2 and CBP1, so we'll have to get zaxxon to fix the link.  here are the new links to download pages for all the CBP content...

Community Bonus Pack 1

Community Bonus Pack 2 - Volumes 1 & 2

both of those links provide multiple mirror for the content, so you should be able to find one that gives a good d/l speed.

now we just need for zaxxon to fix the links in the first post Cool

no kidding...my UT2K4 install is up to about 8GB now.  i'm still enjoying the game enough that it's all worth it though.  just makes me glad i went with that 160GB HDD when i built my rig.  i just keep installing games without having to worry about taking anything off...and the result is a partition with 35GB of gaming goodness right now Cool

Go to Join game.  Then Hit the Favorites button at the top.  Right click on the blue background and select "Add to Favorites".  Put the IP and then click ok.  Double click on the server to join.  You'll have to add a password and then you're good to go.

...and don't ask why i'm still up now...

I jumped on the last couple of nights but the server was empty. (This was after 9:30-10pm CST.) I'll try to jump in tonight. What time do you guys usually get rolling?

We'll be going full-swing around 9:00 EST, and the server will most definitely not be empty tonight.  During the week, you'll have better luck if you post here and on OO that you're going in.   On the weekends, there are usually some people on the server during prime time.

EST EST always EST!

I work until 6:00pm PST and have to be at a father daughter thing at 7:00pm. After everything and putting the kids down, the soonest I'll be getting my ass kicked at UT would be 9:00pm or later. So, if you need me for the stress test at 6:00pm PST, I'll have to regretably back out frown.

But, in my honor, everyone do a self frag tonight and start at -1. It's on me! smile

I'll be on at 9:00 EST, and FYI I put up a permanent 1v1 server at the same IP, port 7888, same password. If ever you hop on the main server and no one is there, give the other one a try--just don't forget to check back periodically and join the main server if it fills up! I did allow 1 spectator on the 1v1, so if people are ever on the main server and want to grab the 1v1ers, you can join as a spectator and tell them where the hell they should be playing. Let me know of any problems you encounter with the new server.

On the positive side, I did get to play with you guys twice before a hundred other things started sucking up all my time slywink
