I bet they're adding new servers on Thursday.

Given when the downtime will start this means no WoW at all thursday.  Given what normally happens on a tuesday I expect the downtime to carry well into friday.

So, we'll be getting an extra day to play, right?  Since they're taking the game offline for almost the entire day Thursday?

Unknown.  I guess if I have to abstain from playing thursday night, perhaps I can finally get something done around the house.  I know the dog has been bugging me to take him for a walk the past month and a half...

Here boy!

16 Hours down is an absurdlly long time for a 'scheduled' maintance fix.  Longest I've ever heard of.  I believe DAOC was down around 10 hours once when they migrated everyone to new servers but that was 2 years after the game launched.  Of course without them sharing a littel info on what changes they are making we are stuck guessing why the hell its gonna take so long.  I'm thinking another comped day is in the future smile.

16 hours is a damn long time.  I think they will probably add a day to everyone's account again.

I can live a day without WOW. Starting from last thursday, I leveled from like... 25 to 37. I played from 6pm to 3am on Thursday, 9am to some 4am friday, 11 to 4am Saturday, 11am to 3am on sunday, and from about 12pm to 12am Monday.

Holy crap it was epic. I've got screenshots I'll post. It was fun, but now the wife has returned from her business trip, so not so much time to play.

HA!

They updated the message with a list of servers that will be down 16 hours.  The other servers will only be down the normal 4 hours instead.  Most of the "problem" servers are listed as 16 hours.  The servers are:

Blackrock
Bonechewer
Cenarion Circle
Cenarius
Deathwing
Destromath
Dethecus
Doomhammer
Dragonmaw
Frostwolf
Gorgonnash
Hyjal
Icecrown
Kel'Thuzad
Kil'Jaeden
Kilrogg
Lightbringer
Nathrezim
Ner'zhul
Proudmoore
Shadowsong
Silver Hand
Silvermoon
Spinebreaker
Terenas
Tichondrius
Uther
Windrunner

I'm surprised Whisperwind isn't on there since I had to leave it because of problems with looting and lag.  My normal one of Feathermoon isn't either so that's good for me.

Yep, I'll echo the surprise that Whisperwind isn't on that list.  We certainly haven't had it as bad as some of the servers, but there are still the occasional trouble spots (email lag, auction lag, load lag, etc.)

For my attempt to second-guess the maintenance, maybe what they're doing is splitting up the login/item servers and the servers that aren't listed will remain on the existing servers (which would be a good thing).

Well I play on Cenarius, so I guess I'm getting the shaft on Thursday, and likely into Friday.  :x

Looks like my alt will actually get past level 6 on Thursday, as Doomhammer is on the list.

It's odd how I can't keep myself from speculating about what is going on.  Doomhammer is a high-pop server, but I've only experienced a very few problems while playing on it.  From what I've heard, Whisperwind seems to be far more problematic.

Maybe you guys will get the shaft next week!

I'm on Silvermoon and I've already made plans for something else tomorrow night.  No way in hell that it will be back up smoothly after a planned 16 hour downtime.

Dammit.  My new computer parts came in today so that means I won't get a full night of WoW goodness in before tomorrow's day off.  I may be a nervous twitching ball by Friday.

So today's the day, right?

Is anybody skipping class/work anyway even though they can't play? smile

Ah well, should be up by the time I get home. *I hope.*

Hmmm, I saw 8 servers up a little while ago, but now there are none.  Surprise, surprise...

43 servers currently up (11:30 AM Mountain time).  Go play!

I, however, will be here at work all day.  frown

(edit -- I noticed that Blizzard's web server is getting hammered, it was difficult to get the status for the servers)

I haven't seen that page work right yet.  Blizzard admitted a bug with it recently as well.  Does it actually work correctly now?

Are you playing a Horde or Alliance character? I'm on Silvermoon as well. If you're Alliance, look me up some night under this name.

I'm playing Alliance (43rd level Paladin) and I know I've seen you on but that was a while back.  I'm usually on most nights but I'm going through the effort of installing all my new hardware tonight so I doubt I'll be on until this weekend.  Good hunting!

It was apparently working yesterday.  When they admitted to the bug, all the servers were displayed as up despite them all being down for maintenance.  Yesterday the list had some servers up and some down, so I assume that means it was working.
