I really liked it at first, but after a month you just knew it didn't have very long legs.

Its too bad it never caught on. It was fantastic the first few months. The Realm vs Realm stuff was just great. There were some fantastic battles for keeps/castles in those early zones. Our guild had some fun too by making a bunch of L1 characters with lewd names, stripping them naked, and doing the beginner Realm vs Realm areas. But the end game just didn't work, particularly when the servers were lopsided in population like ours was. By the time the expansion came out we move on.

But man those first few months were just fantastic.

Here is my wife and I as our main characters in the game, Friiick McFrackleson and Fraaack McFrickleson.

Those oversized hammers were just awesome too look at; especially when you did the spinning attack. But we stuck out like a sore thumb in RvR battles. And we only had them for a few weeks before they changed the look to something more normal sized.

And here's our latest reincarnation of Friiick and Fraaack. Just not the same.

Hasn't this MMO been on life support (at best) for like 3 years now?

Frankly I, and quite a few others, first thoughts were, "This MMO is still around?"

Loved the game's earlier tiers of pvp - I have never had as much fun as I did in keep defenses, and keep assaults in T2 in any other MMO, as I did in this. I even had fun in the earlier pve parts of the game, before I discovered that I actually LIKED PvP. Warhammer Online is the first game I ever PvP'ed in, and the T1 battlegrounds were awesomely fun as well.

Such a shame about the endgame, but despite playing it for about 6 month, I never got above T3, due to massive amounts of Alts. So much fun!

Sad to see you go, Warhammer Online - I hope someone else takes up the challenge someday!

I had been wanting a Warhammer MMO for years, being a huge fan of the roleplaying games (including WH40k, for which I'm currently running a campaign), but this game just left me feeling cold. I prefer my Warhammer dark and gritty, but this game looks like a colorful WoW-clone with flashy magic and awesome, epic heroes everywhere. It just left me cold from the very first moment I laid eyes on it.

Give me a Warhammer MMO where you actually have to work your way up from being a worthless rat catcher, and you've got my attention. smile Start me off as an awesome witch hunter, and you're off on the wrong foot.

The Scenarios were really fun.  I think WAR started that trend.  Everyone was adding/including Scenarios/Battlegrounds in their MMO since WAR came out.  It was nice that within minutes of rolling a new character, I could be levelling up doing scenarios instead of boring PvE.  I guess they realized how much fun SCs were that they even made a spin-off game (which unfortunately was pretty bad).

I honestly thought this shut down a year ago...I would have been playing some more since I'm back into Warhammer at the moment.  Anyone know if they went the free for the remaining time route or will it remain paid until it shuts down?

Never bothered with this game. Mythic Entertainment insulted my intelligence far too much with their treatment of DAoC and me as a customer. Glad to see one of their games bite the dust.

Lol Yep, death before dishonor and that even extends beyond the covenant and fraternity - meaning, I've written Elders Scrolls Online off because a number of ex-Mythic staff are involved with it. I'm rarely so spiteful -far from it- but what I experienced, heard and read about the handlings of DAoC was that bad and unprofessional.

Wow that's some hardcore hate.  So anyone who has had any affiliation with Mythic are as bad as child killers and should be avoided like the plague.  So rare to find a company that employs 100% pure evil.

Nope, just that one of the bigger personalities on ESO, was also one of the more rotten apples at Mythic.

It's too bad EA didn't care enough to convert it to FTP a couple of years ago.  They milked the $14.99 sub until death.  While the pve was terrible, with the exception of the public quests during the first few months, the pvp was pretty good.  I loved tiers 1&2, so much fun both in rvr and scenarios.
