oh dear god let them get this right.  too bad it probably won't be the old school Vampire/Mage/Werewolf/Changeling (like Bloodlines or Redemption) stuff but the new setting instead.  still, it'll be nice to be able to play an online version of the LARP without having to travel to different cons.

i'll say.

a whole year and we get three words to puzzle over?  at least we know it's VTM and not the newer stuff.  i would love it to be set during the huge ass war they had spread along those 13 books a while back.  of course, it's been so long, i barely remember what the hell happened in them.

I guess the trailer reveal was at The Grand Gathering in New Orleans, some big World of Darkness event.

Things aren't looking good for this one, with CCP laying off about 120 people, mostly from the Atlanta studio that was working on this game.

new video interview:

Quote
Bloodlines the PC game is a big inspiration to the MMO, they are trying to capture the same atmosphere/using it as a point of reference.

He finds PnP RPG's natural to move into a MMO as it is about individual characters not a specific one (ie Spiderman).

A lot of focus on player to player interactions due to lack of GM unlike a table top session.

Confirms single shard concept from EVE will be used due to shared technology. (Who called this 6 months ago? oh that's right, me. )

States there is still a AAA team working on the MMO from all aspects of the gaming industry.

Wanted to focus on vampires only to give depth due to focusing on only one playable supernatural on launch.

Said on the surface the game will not seem to be about supernaturals but becomes evident when your character digs into the game world.

nothing like reading through an old thread to see yourself responding to it and not remembering that you did.  so, another year plus has passed and we get an interview with a vampire developer.

so we should expect an eventual expansion with the werewolfs in it.

and from that last line, we also get some time leading up to our transformation.  interesting.  I wonder how they will work the bloodline into this.

layoffs hit the team:

Quote
"CCP today made strategic adjustments to the staffing on the team working on the World of Darkness project in Atlanta that resulted in the elimination of approximately 15 positions at the company. The change was due to our evaluation of the game's design and ongoing development needs. While this was a difficult decision, CCP remains committed to the franchise and our promise to make a compelling, rich, and deep World of Darkness experience."

well if that isn't a kick in the jingle bells for those employees let go before the holidays.

Boo. A niche mmo set in the World of Darkness could have been really cool.  I think we're seeing the death of the traditional mmorpg right before our eyes.  They're huge money sinks.

Suggestion: we could all just commandeer Star Citizen and LARP annoyingly in it.
