As the subject says I'm looking for some people to play Halo 3 with online, co-op. I know there are a zillion other topics about Xbox live and such but they are impersonal, and I figure the best route to go would be the direct route. As for me I'm and East Coaster, not very good at console fps games, and like long walks on the beach. What I'm looking for is a group who can play in the evenings during the week or on the weekend or both. The gamer tag is "Troll Fighter" (tribute to Earnest Scared Stupid) feel free to add me.
Also I need help killing General Raam in GoW I cannot kill that bastard with my torque bow/sniper rifle combo. I think the game is even on sissy mode and I still can't beat him.

Would love to, as that is the main reason I want the game-for the coop. Just say when and invite me.

Yes. I'd love to play co-op Halo 3 with you guys.
I'm PicTurtle on live, make sure you add me to your friends list and send me an invite if you see me on.
Also make sure to post when you're usually available to play.
Have you finished up Halo 2 yet? Does that allow online co-op?

I'll be all over Halo3 once it's out -- though I am not sure how quickly I'll be doing online co-op, I'll be doing a Lot of multiplayer.

in for coop.
Just send the invite and I'll likely join.
Turtle, the co-op for Halo2 is only splitscreen or Network, IIRC. No Live play. I thought there was some software one could use to get it going (via a PC emulating the network link) but that might just be for HALO1 over the intarwebz.

I'd be in for co-op (after logging some time in SP in order to check out the game), and I'd also like you guys to keep me in mind for versus MP. I didn't get online until long after anyone from GT or OO was playing Halo 2 anymore, and my online experience was pretty much limited to the Halo l33t and it was far from fun. I'd love to play MP with the GT and OO communities.

I kind of just realized this game is now 5 days away.
That means I'm going to have to work my ass off this weekend to get ahead of my classwork so I can play with you guys.
I never was into Halo's versus multiplayer since I'm tired of deathmatch variants, I'll still play if a group is playing because the gameplay that's there is still good, but not something I'll do on my own. However, if it turns out Halo 3 has some pretty in depth multiplayer modes (besides co-op), I'm in.

I've never played a HALO game in my life I don't think.
I'm open and would love playing Co-op; assuming I like the game. Is there friendly-fire? Just curious?

Oh hellzya.
I'mma posting some basic Military laws that will help orient you to the ways of Halo.
Spoiler for Murphy's Military Laws: - A Purple Heart just proves that you were smart enough to think of a plan, stupid enough to try it, and lucky enough to survive.
- A slipping gear could let your M203 grenade launcher fire when you least expect it. That would make you quite unpopular in what's left of your unit.
- Aim towards the enemy.
- Any ship can be a minesweeper ... once.
- Anything you do can get you shot - including doing nothing.
- Bravery is being the only one who knows you're afraid.
- Cluster bombing from B-52s is very, very accurate. The bombs are guaranteed to always hit the ground.
- Don't be conspicuous:
- In the combat zone, it draws fire.
- Out of the combat zone, it draws sergeants.
- Don't draw fire, it irritates the people around you.
- Don't ever be the first, don't ever be the last and don't ever volunteer to do anything.
- Five second fuses only last three seconds.
- Friendly fire ain't.
- If it's stupid but works, it isn't stupid.
- If the enemy is in range, so are you.
- If you can't remember, the claymore is pointed at you.
- If you really need an officer in a hurry, take a nap.
- If you see a bomb technician running, try to keep up with him.
- If your advance is going well, you are walking into an ambush.
- If your sergeant can see you, so can the enemy.
- Incoming fire has the right of way.
- It is generally inadvisable to eject directly over the area you just bombed.
- Make it too tough for the enemy to get in and you can't get out.
- Mines are equal opportunity weapons.
- Never draw fire, it irritates everyone around you.
- Never forget that your weapon was made by the lowest bidder.
- Never share a foxhole with anyone braver than you are.
- Never tell the Platoon Sergeant you have nothing to do.
- No battle plan ever survives contact with the enemy.
- No combat-ready unit has ever passed inspection.
- Professionals are predictable, it's the amateurs that are dangerous.
- Teamwork is essential -- it gives them someone else to shoot at.
- The problem with taking the easy way out is that the enemy has already mined it.
- The enemy invariably attacks on two occasions:
- When you're ready for them.
- When you're not ready for them.
- The buddy system is essential to your survival. It gives the enemy somebody else to shoot at.
- The further you are in advance of your own positions, the more likely your artillery will shoot short.
- The most dangerous thing in the combat zone is an officer with a map.
- The only thing more accurate than incoming enemy fire is incoming friendly fire.
- The only time suppressive fire works is when it is used on abandoned positions.
- The quartermaster has only two sizes, too large and too small.
- There is nothing more satisfying that having someone take a shot at you, and miss.
- Things that have to be together to work usually can't be shipped together.
- Tracers work both ways.
- Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.
- When in doubt, empty the magazine.
- When the pin is pulled, Mr. Grenade is not our friend.
The friendly fire one applies +100.[/list]

Friday night Multiplayer 9/28? In my humble opinion the GamingTrend community is the best for MP and Co-op play. Everyone is really cool and just here for fun.
Heck, I even enjoy it when I constantly get pwned by papasmurff, Harkonis, and PeteRock.

I'm definitely in. I always enjoy playing with you (and not because I allegedly pwn you from time to time ). We always have a good laugh, we play well together and communicate very well, and as odd as it may sound, I consider many of you "friends" because of how well we get along together online. So consider me a definite to play with you, if only to get some easy kills under my belt while shaking off the Halo rust ( ). And, my wife has been a Halo and Halo 2 junkie, so she will be in for some MP as well (as long as we can play split-screen - she has her own Live account and headset, so I assume it should be possible). She already knows the gamertags of everyone I play with because she's always in the living room when I play MP, so she already feels like she knows most of you. But if she gets hold of a rocket launcher, run like the wind. She's merciless. Count me in (and probably my wife as well - gamertag MoosNukle).

Already got my copy from 7/11, bwahaha. Going to play a bit tonight. Anyone else have their copy and want to do some late night co-op?
Another bit of good news is that I unplugged my system and boxed it to take it to costco, but the system was on my Dad's account, not mine, so they couldn't make an exchange. However, when I took it home and plugged it in again, I've been playing through the bioshock demo to test and it seems to work. I was just about to try the towel trick tonight too.
Edit: I spoke too soon, no sooner did I open the disc tray to test it with viva pinata than the thing freezes. I'm trying the towel trick right now. My copy of Halo 3 is still wrapped and I have the receipt. If the towel trick doesn't work I'll return it tomorrow and buy it when I get my Dad's costco card to exchange or whenever I get it back from MS. No doubt there'll be plenty of used and traded copies by the time I get it back, because I bet you Halo 3 will bring out more dead 360s, swamping the repair facilities.

Played tonight with turtle it was great, aside from the fact that voice comm was horrible. He sounded mumbly and I on the other hand was screechingly loud. I'll probably go pick up a new head set, but are they supposed to sound that bad? I couldn't get it to recognize my normal speaking voice, hence the screeching thing.
The game play was a lot of fun. I asked him if friendly fire was on, and proceeded to try to pummel him, and missing several times before deciding it was better to find out with a grenade. (friendly fire was indeed on) We only died 3 times total completing the first mission (though this was on girl scout difficulty) The second mission went especially well apparently Turtle has a knack with turret based weapons, so instead of humiliating myself by wasting 200 bullets trying to kills a single slow moving grunt I handed it over to Turtle, and took the gravity hammer instead. Ahh by God that is a weapon for divine application of pain, and mayhem. At one point we were running down a tunnel chasing grunts, and we both heard one turn to it's comrade "Run, he has a hammer!" which was true, I did have a hammer, and I had bad intentions in mind.
All in all it was a fun experience, and one I'd like to repeat with more people.

I'm in. Actually, I am only playing multiplayer right now. I promised my girlfriend I would co-op play the campaign so I haven't even see anything yet about that but multiplayer is fun.
I played a kick ass variant last night called VIP. 4 teams of two players with rocket launchers riding mongooses. One guy drives the other blasts the shit out of the other teams and tries to get to the "IT" area which is constantly moving. Also, no one dies so its constant blasting and shows of the havoc engine. REALLY FUN!!
I would love to get into the Friday night Halo 3 matches this time.

How about Friday night? hepcat suggested an old-timers game over at OO for all of us with slowly degrading twitch skills, and since the GT Friday Night Gears of War sessions were an absolute blast I'd love to play MP Halo 3 with the GT/OO crew. I hope to have my copy today (F-ing free shipping can go to hell), and I would love to play MP Friday night.
