I'm not wearying of COD4 in the least, but I wonder what will be the next one we all jump to...or even what the prospects are.

Ideas?

Yeah I think Vegas 2 as well, but the previews are looking a little iffy.

I would suggest a PS3 game... but I'd get flamed.  So instead, how about whatever FPS comes out next for the 360?  Vegas 1 was a hit for people on the forums... so I'd put my money on the sequel.

Is there a legitimate PS3 MP game coming out?

Well, considering the fact that Vegas 2 will be multi-platform...Vegas 2...?

Let's be honest, though, with multi-platform games, the majority of members here at GT go the Xbox 360 route.  So, legimate PS3 MP exclusive games could include Haze or Gran Turismo 5: Prologue in the somewhat near future.

Later this year, we could go with Metal Gear Online, Killzone 2, or LittleBigPlanet.  This isn't the thread for that, though.

Vegas 2 for the 360.

Dude, come on, if you are going to be honest-then finish your thought-the majority of multi-platform gamers are on Live. The next "big multiplayer" game is going to be on Live until and unless PS3 can narrow about 6 million consoles in sales. Look at the disparity of COD4 on 360 to PS3. Yes the attach rate on PS3 was very encouraging, and I am happy about it-but with 4x the number of people playing it on Live, that is the "new big thing".

However, if we are including console neutrality and an overall game-then yeah, as we said, R6Vegas. It will not be PS3 exclusive game for the forseeable future-likely 18 months or more.

After playing the demos for Frontlines on both PC and XBOX Live, I'll drastically have to re-think my opinions of those of you who buy it slywink  The controls are total crap on both platforms though the game concept isn't bad.

I am not crazy about playing the same game I just played a year ago. I hope Vegas 2 adds something cuz I'm done with 1.

As to MP games, 35 PS3s vs 150 360's (not including replacements slywink) on the GT forums.
It's not a preference thing, it's a feasibility issue. I need to publish the updates; it's a timeconsuming process.

Kind of. The singleplayer is completely mediocre, but the multiplayer is setup about a million times better than GRAW. If you enter a ranked game it's like joining a server, but there's never a host, so you can't be kicked because you haven't played a million rounds of the game already. The gametypes are set so there's never some douchebag that's altered the game rules to their liking, and there's some other things too.

If you talk to people that were big fans of it they all despise GRAW's multiplayer setup.

If SOCOM for the PS3 turns out to be a solid multiplayer game it will sell me the system. I've heard how awesome SOCOM was tons of times from different people when playing R6:Vegas and GRAW and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it on the PS3. It sounds like exactly the kind of thing I've wanted Ubisoft to do with GRAW from the beginning.

3rd person shooter like GRAW.  Sony's first game to sell with a headset.  I've been playing the series since the first one came out in 2002.  After showing SOCOM2 to a friend, he went out and got high speed internet just to play online.

Agreed, Frontlines was pretty horrible. After the likes of CoD4 and Halo 3, anything less than awesome controls (and graphics) is unacceptable.

I played the first two SOCOMs. Exclusive playstation 2 players loved them for sure, and talked about them constantly. However, I found that they were never more than average. None of the past titles has ever been as good as GRAW1 or 2, Halo MP, R6, Gears, COD4, etc.

Maybe they're not as good in the actual gameplay itself.. but the setup sure sounds about ten times superior to everything ubisoft has done with Live on Rainbow Six or GRAW.

Well, thats fine, but I will choose the game that has a crappier lobby but better play every single day and twice on the weekends. Why spend my time on an inferior game because the lobby system is better?

Metal Gear Online

interesting hadnt heard about this - is it standalone or is it the multi component of the new metal gear? (either way im guessing its going to be splinter cell-esque?)

also there really arent any fps games coming out that will replace cod - aside from vegas 2.  but if thats anything like the first vegas it will be a secondary game to cod - a change of pace, not the 24 /7 marathon

however if youre into real time strategy, there are a TON of them coming out in the next few months - though im not sure how big a following we have on the forum for the console flavor rts

The play's not better if you have to deal with people who change the game rules in a ranked game. Ubisoft has some serious lessons to learn about how to do a ranked system.

And yes, I would in fact take a somewhat inferior game if it meant not having to deal with the douchebags that played ranked GRAW. Sorry, but every game degenerating into which team can get setup to camp all the spawn points first is not fun.

If you mean shooters, probably keep an eye out for the 5-class, 60+ vehicle Frontline: Fuels of War by Kaos Studios (founded by members of the Desert Combat Mod for BF1942, who were absorbed by DICE/EA like the Borg and then later bought out).

Oficiale site (features page):
http://www.frontlineswar.com/?page=features

Gametrailers has lots of stuff:

Course if yer burned out on military shooters (which I decidedly am at this point), this will not even bump your heart rate up, no matter what it promises.  deadhorse

Gamestop says it ships 3/11.  Gamefly says 3/20.  This site says 3/25.

Ubisoft just says March 2008.

Really?
I tried the demo and just couldn't get into the whole "race the clock" thing.
Would you happen to know how the online multiplayer will work for that game?
If it's just players racing against each other's best time, then I think this one will be a pass for me.

Edit: Nvm I only tried the single played portion so far, so I cant judge.

Vegas 2 should be a solid choice.
I sinked quite a bit of time into the first one, and I miss the loads of customization it offered.

vegas 2 for me as i played the sp on the pc, but never the mp on the three-sitty.  i had a more favorable impression of frontlines though, so that is a solid maybe, depending on reviews and gt adoption.

i should try the club demo and see if it's something i like.

otherwise, it's currently burnout paradise for me.
