boom. Camelot Unchained takes one part classic legends, adds a twisty little apocalyptic passage, and mixes in a whole batch of creativity to birth not just another “me and my WoW-clone”, but a unique RvR-focused MMORPG. A cataclysmic explosion pierced “The Veil” that separates dimensions, bringing forth a nightmarish mix of both legends and horrors upon our world, leading to an extinction-level event. It is against the backdrop of an almost unrecognizable world that our game unfolds, and as a player of Camelot Unchained, you can expect the following:
·Camelot Unchained is a subscription-based, RvR-focused MMORPG. RvR is an acronym for Realm vs. Realm® (this term is a registered trademark of Electronic Arts), which we call TriRealm™ for the interaction of the three main realms.
·The game will feature RvR-based leveling tracks for all classes. No PvE (player vs. environment) -based leveling, loot drops or other such systems are currently planned. All leveling will come from engaging in the game’s RvR-based systems, whether by fighting other players, capturing objectives, and/or crafting objects to help in RvR.
·You will have the choice of playing any realm on each of the game’s servers except that you may play only characters from the same realm on any single server. In other words, one server = one realm.
·Our subscription tiers will be based on players' individual choices regarding participation, but will be less than the current accepted norm for MMORPGs.
·The game will be developed for PC (Windows) with stretch goals for other platforms.
·The game will be available in English with French, German and other languages based on demand.
·The client will be DRM-free and distributed via Torrent. they're already almost 1/4 the way to their goal: $457,969 pledged of $2,000,000 goal.

It's extremely surprising to see the number of people that are in at the high donation levels, including 7 people already at $5000+ reward level.

I hope this game is good but I don't have much faith in Marc Jacobs. A guy who used to say he doesn't play the PvP part of the game much back in Warhammer Online interviews and now he is a self proclaimed PvP guru?

Its not Warhammer Online people are basing their faith in him from - its the fact that its supposedly a Dark Age of Camelot spiritual successor, which was all about the RvsR

As interested I am in this game if they can pull it off, I need to see more of my Kickstarter backings turn into real products before I fork over any money. I'll do that quaint old fashioned technique of evaluating my desire to purchase when it's actually available.

I thought Elder Scrolls Online was supposed to be the spirtual successor to daoc, based on the people involved.

I thought ESO looked very PvE focused, but I haven't read that much about it. In any case, given the name; CAMELOT Unchained, I think it's pretty clear this one wants to be known as the real DAOC successor. I pledged, would love to see if they can pull off a true PvP/RvR MMO with no PvE entanglements.

Ritt ESO is being lead by Matt Firor who was the producer of DAOC, and ESO has a lot , I mean a lot of things that look like a DAOC2 type game. So between the two of em, hopefully one will be DAOC2

I have absolutely no faith in Mark Jacobs, to which I won't elaborate except to say I definitely have legit reasons for feeling that way. Absolutely no way in Hell I'd pledge a single cent for this!

Ooh, why can't you elaborate? Did you have a fist fight with him or something? For $25, it's worth the risk for me. I don't have a lot of faith either but nobody else is making PvP only MMOs.

Come on, give us the inside scoop!!!!!
P.S. I looked at ESO, I see they somehow are working in 3 realms/factions into the Elder Scrolls universe (why is it always 3 lol?). Kind of odd/interesting choice given the ES games were all PvE.

(why is it always 3 lol?) Because if one side gets too big, odds are good that the other two combined can take them down. At least that's what normally happened in DAoC.
