There's a few of us GTers in TR now so thought I'd do a list of sorts (you only need someone's last name to add to friends list -- that's cool, I think it'll let you know when they're on regardless of which character):

This is probably an incomplete list, just from combing posts in the TR thread. smile

Pegasus (East Coast) Server
-Devian [andon at GT]

-Gillman [Arclight at GT]

-Faide [Faide at GT]

-Llewis [CeeKay at GT]

-Hakashi [USMC Kato at GT]

-Blackjach [Blackjack at GT]
--Jude Blackjach [L30], Commando
--Injector Blackjach [L5], Specialist
--Specializer Blackjach [L4], Specialist

-Sulastani (L24) [Arkon at GT]

-Rhall [Goldchamp at GT]

I think mmorpg.com still has the trial going. And the free trials seem to have brought in all the Hellgate: London spambots to play. smile

The trial is helpful for knowing if you like the combat mechanics or if you want to see how much it's improved since the clumsy beta. Until I get to try the L15 and L30 class choice tiers, I can't really chime in on how the later game is. But I do enjoy it quite a bit, and there's always something to do (if you get bored, you can just enjoy the Planetside-style base defense stuff, go hunt for Logos etc.). When I thought I was finally about out of specific things to do, I just moved to the next zone (Divide) and became so awash in missions I had to logout (too much work to do today).

I wouldn't hype it as the most innovative MMO on the block (as Garriott does), but for me, it draws in lots of things I like (sci-fi stuff and yet still lots of attractive environments as a more conventional fantasy mmo might have; some Planetside-style base defense and assault stuff but in a PvE format; lots of variety in things to do; and lots of crazy guns  icon_cool though the tiers look like they diversify that into "more than just guns" in combat eventually) in a fun package. And you never have to kill a rat, a snake or a 2-inch cockroach.  Tongue

I don't even notice the chat window anymore- I changed all the text colors to be more muted (except for private messages) and turned the background translucent, but before that yeah, there was alot of 'power level for 25 bucks an hour' spam.

ROTC, when you have free time try the trial.  you might like it.

Damn...the forum effect is starting to kill me on this one. I loved Anarchy Online and played it for 2 years and this game seems to have some of that games atmosphere. Based on the very positive feedback here I'm close to running out and getting this.
Did the dev's introduce gear auctioning yet?

Hey that's great that it's been brought in now.
Another question I have is how is the game for RP'ing your toon; is RP'ing encouraged or discouraged?
I'm also curious what time of the day are most GT'ers on the Pegasus server? I'm on the west coast, but because I work with so many east coast customers I often start and finish early.
I'm also wondering if there's any plans by the devs to introduce voice chat?

I've been in the auction house (called 'Military Surplus') and bought stuff, but I have yet to see anything that you can bid on as evverything seems to be 'Buy Now'.  All the filter functions don't work yet either, like the toggle that is supposed to only show stuff that you can actually use.

Still, you can find some pretty nice stuff for decent prices there.  Now that I have access to Stealth Armor I need to go back and see what's available.

I might try to get a GamingTrend clan started (if only to have a clan chat channel, and you can then also trade the 4 collector's edition paints to other clan mates if there's interest). It costs 10,000, and I'm afraid I always buy a bunch of stuff and then realize "hey, i was thinking about opening a clan." Oops.  Tongue

Sony needs to take their anti-spam protection software they use in EQ2 and sell it to EVERYBODY. It works. It works perfectly. All that I ever see is "Spam tell from xcvwasf5y [more]", and if I get curious I can click the more link to read it.

I've yet to see a spam tell get past the filter since I jumped back into EQ2. It works that well.

Not that I really expect anyone here to join up (except maybe Sulastani who I've had some fun team-ups with), but I went ahead and created a clan with a familiar name. smile

*drum roll*

ta da!

I tried to get a screenshot of the lonely clan member list but it didn't work for some reason. I don't see much on the clan panel beyond editing the few preset titles.

I think you can share the normally non-tradeable Collector's Edition paint schematics (which never run out, per se) with clan mates. Beyond that and a clan channel there isn't much benefit to it now (though supposedly various things are in the cards).

fwiw, it's pretty crowded today and someone mentioned seeing a brief "waiting que" at login for the first time (though for sure that's probably more due to college kids on holiday more than anything else). Still, enthusiasm just seems very infectious in the game. If it gets its hooks in you at all, your free time will be in trouble.  icon_wink

I'm really enjoying The Plains, and starting to see a few 4th tier Level 30+ characters now and then. Most seem to be having fun, but I sense there just aren't enough people up there yet for them to have much like finding squadmates.

You can only add friends when they're online for whatever reason.

And which server is this? I might have to pop on for that paint and a guild invite for fun. biggrin

Is it the West Coast server?

I expect to be on around maybe (East Coast time) 1-4 p.m., and maybe 9-midnight tonight so look for me then and I'll add ya. smile (on Pegasus, East Coast server).

I added Sulastani who popped in briefly last night, to the clan.

I think they're looking at letting you add offline friends to your list eventually, but that and making the clan stuff more useful (right now, you can't really do anything beyond editing the 4-5 pre-set ranking names).

I'm finally working on a specialist, this time from scratch (Injector Blackjach), I'll add it to our list in the first post.

I was, uh, informed it was silly to use your first clone credit at L4.9 (which is when you earn your first one -- but just going through the modest length tutorial sequence will get you to L4), so this time I'm saving it up for later. I mistakenly thought you needed to use it immediately when you're prompted about its availability. But the clone button will just stay available at the server characters screen if you don't use it (you'll just keep your one clone credit).

Although you can earn a clone credit by completing the "so and so targets of opportunity," I've yet to be able to complete any of those. I'm always missing one or two things (usually storyline quests, or some cave I can't find etc.).

I used my 1st clone at 14.9 and that gave me a Commando and a Ranger. I then completed my ToO with my level 15 in the wilderness. I went from level 15-17 doing the outstanding missions and the instances all solo and got another clone credit so now have 2 for hitting level 30, giving me the option of spy and sniper.

I shall also be doing the same with my commando except i need to do all of the ToO but seems to be worth it xp wise anyways.

See Arclight's thread (Tips, Tricks and Automobiles... Tabula Rasa) for some of us veterans' (I hesitate to call myself that smile) thoughts on things that can help new players enjoy the game and avoid the occasional frustration.

I was on too late to run into any of youz guys. Perhaps tonight I can flag someone down.

Oh I think I'm going to disband the fledgling GT clan due to lack of members and interest, and also because I've gotten a couple of invites to active clans (and after you leave a clan you have to wait 7 days before joining another). So I'd rather set my characters free to join something active.

I still got most people here on the friends list and feel free to add me, keep in touch, team up with me, etc. Au revoir. smile

I got onto a pretty friendly and large clan called Misfit Mercenaries:
http://www.misfitmercs.com/Home/tabid/60/Default.aspx

They're supposedly a group of older players and they've been having various guilds in various games for about 10 years. I've only met a few of them online and it's not crazy active, but they have quite a few members. The guy who invited me (Motovar, or something like that) is a lotta fun and gabby. So even if there aren't many people on, you can count on him keeping the clan chat channel busy. smile

If anyone's interested in it, message me in game and I'll see if I can get  you in. There's no initiation. smile But I don't think my character's got clan invites yet.
