What are people going to be doing in here, the Battlenet email (I assume this means the email you use to log into Battlenet?) or the Character ID?

I'm just listing my character ID, which is CeeKay, code 513.

You can add people two ways.

Battle.net ID which links you if you are playing anything on Battle.net  Warcraft or Starcraft you can chat and find each other.

Character name - You get just that player name but you also need their code.

Drifter Character code 428
highlight the picture of your character to find your code - you have no idea how long it took me to figure that out.

I should be in as Chaz, 479.  I'm a total noob.  My SC1 MP experience consisted of getting my base blowed up by invisible guys who turned out to be dark templars in about 5 minutes.

Sorry for the confusion.  icon_smile I invited everyone who was on our thread list here this morning in-game, and then today at work I logged onto battle.net. Your community page for Starcraft will show your Friends listed like that. Clicking on the right side arrow takes you to the player's profile page (you only see their character name, not their Real Name). It's pretty neat integration, and fun that you can see all that from the site (you can log onto battle.net from anywhere, doesn't have to be on the PC your game's installed on).

After Diablo III, I sense Blizzard moving towards this Total Gaming Ecosystem, where you never have to leave Battle.net at all and you lose all capacity to buy games not made by Blizzard. Perhaps you'll have the option to install your games into A Cloud, so you can play your games from any computer in the World. Drink the Kool-AidTM, man!  The drink that never ends. Probably all they need now is an MMO not involving Orcs (to convert non WoW-believers like myself) and then the world will be theirs...  Cool

Fired up MP last night just to take a look. I wanted to do the practice and hit Esc while looking at the ladder section. Now it looks like I gave up my chance to practice (and I seriously need it). Ugh! Anyone try to use one of the guest passes on their account to Practice MP? I am inclined to use one of my for that purpose but not sure if it will allow it. Thoughts?

Heyhey, GT peeps.  I recently started a similar thread at OO, and given the large amount of cross-visitors that our sites have, I placed a link to this thread in ours.  Just wanted to make you aware in case any of you are as interested in adding us as we are in adding y'all.

Cheers, and may your Battlecruisers fly true.  Or something.

Why don't we have a list for that?

when you click on 'add a friend' there are actually 3 options.  the main one which they seem to be pushing is the battle.net ID, but on the right is two buttons.  the top one is the one that uses character name and code, while the bottom one has something to do with Facebook.  I think most people are more comfortable with the way we're doing it.

You can add by RealID email or by character/code combo.   RealID is for those comfortable sharing real names and emails, while character/code keeps that info private.  You need the code because character names are not unique across Battle.net.

Ok that's cool... how come no one is adding friends by that method here?  Isn't the good thing about this GT forum is that everyone is cool and mature?

if people want to use the email address they use to login into Battle.net that's up to them, I'll add it to the list either way.

Part of this is already in place.  I played through the first 3 missions on my desktop and then switched to my laptop.  Just for kicks I looked to see what the single player said and it recognized that I was now on mission 4.  I didn't move a safe file or anything.  Pretty cool. smile
