Welcome to Star Wars™: The Old Republic™. It’s been many years in the making and the team is very proud of what we’ve achieved. Since we’re an online game we are going to continue building on the game for years to come. You can count on us to diligently expand the game and service to surprise and delight you. We’re going to not only respond to your feedback, but also hopefully exceed your expectations on how Star Wars: The Old Republic will evolve over time.

Many of you helped make the game what it is today by participating in our testing programs. You’ve watched the game grow over the past year and have been very vocal about things you’d like to see in the game in the future.

A team is never finished building a massively multiplayer game, so we’d like to take this opportunity to reveal a little information on what the team is working on for patches coming in the near future. Our priorities have been, and will continue to be, based off of the feedback we receive from our players.

    • New Content – We will be adding new content to the galaxy on an ongoing basis. These worlds will include Operations, Flashpoints and solo content.

    • Guild Functionality – Guilds are important to the long term health of any MMORPG. We have a huge list of guild centric features. This will be an ongoing effort that will probably never end. Guild banks are the first thing we’ll be delivering in our plans for increased guild functionality. Eventually we even want to deliver on the promise of the long hinted at “Guild Capital Ships”.

    • UI customization – You like choice. We hear you! SWTOR is all about choice. Being able to choose how you interact with an online game is something we feel is very important. We are going to be giving more control over the UI as an ongoing effort. This is a very big priority for us.

    • PvP – We have an entire team dedicated to adding content and features to player vs. player. We have some of the most experienced PvP developers in the world on this team. So far very few people have seen, or know much about the stunning Open World PVP on Ilum; when you get to the high levels prepare to be blown away! In addition to that high level PVP content, expect new Warzones and new PvP features on a regular basis.

    • Space Combat – We will continue to add missions to the space game. We also have a special project going on right now that will expand space gameplay in a significant way... for now the details will have to remain under wraps.

    • Legacy System – The ability to select a surname for your character is just the start of something much bigger. Soon, the Legacy experience and levels you earn will grant your characters access to powers, objects and other cool benefits.

    • And more – We have an entire team of developers working on future content. Right now we are focused on nothing else but Star Wars: The Old Republic, so expect new and cool things.

It is fair to say that we’re just as excited as you are about the launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic. Not only are we launching one of the largest and most impressive games ever created [well, maybe "a bag of chips"   -bj ], but we’re also excited about the prospect of continuing to work on the game so that you, the fans, will always have something heroic and amazing to enjoy. If it was with Origin, you have to contact Origin support about it (http://www.swtor.com/preorder/faq#q209657).

If it's with Amazon or another online retailer, I'd contact their support and ask about it. You should be able to switch to another form of payment, but presumably they'd need to make that switch on their end.

*I checked my Amazon receipt from when I first pre-ordered CE, and it really doesn't indicate when the actual charge will take place. I assume whatever date it actually leaves Amazon's hands and heads towards my grubby Smuggler mitts.   With a boxed version, I assume it's charged the day it ships; with a digital pre-order, I assume Dec. 20.

Don't worry.  I didn't have permissions to do anything yet.  It just detected that I was the first person to log in from the guild and asked if I wanted to get it created on the server.  You are still the all-powerful master.

For those who are getting in early, have fun! I pre-ordered on Nov 27th, but I can't even pre-download the game. I logged into Origin this morning to start the download, but no dice. Guess I didn't pre-order 'early enough' to warrant early game access. EA with Origin is being so byzantine about this. Ugh! Guess I'll be there when the game actually launches and they 'deem' my pre-order as worthy of a game download maybe an hour before midnight on the 20th.

Well, it has *always* been up to 5 days before release, based on how early you pre-ordered - They have been pretty upfront about that. So, its now 7 days before launch, so I'm guessing its just jealousy of those who are already in?

A dev tracker update indicated that most of today's "waves" are the glut of folks who pre-ordered immediately after the announcement. My reading is the extra couple days gave them some more elbow room to let in most of that glut, and then still gradually let the rest in over the originally intended 5 days or so.

It's not to make the people who get in the last 5 days somehow feel bad or poorly treated. Probably if they'd stuck with the original 5 day period, they'd be having a lot of wait ques and server overload issues.

For my part, I just ordered CE as an impulsive thing and no not gonna sell it on EBay for $300.   The cosmetic perks and the Darth statue looked fun. I knew full well with my work sked I wasn't going to be able to put in much time during early access.

The game client doesn't come from Origin even if you ordered from there.  They sent emails last week to everyone who pre-ordered, and that email had a link to the download.

It sounds like you didn't register your pre-order code!  You have to create an account on the swtor.com site, if you haven't already.  Then you need to redeem your pre-order code.  Your pre-order code *does* come from Origin and it should be displayed in the game info.  Once you redeem the pre-order code you should be able to download the client from your swtor.com account page.

Also, the order in which pre-order codes were redeemed is the order that they are letting people into the early release.

Make sure you applied that pre-order code to your SWTOR account (assuming you have set one up). I believe (you guys know how often I'm wrong!  ) you have to do that even if you just want to "preload." If you've already done that, I got nothin'.

You should definitely be able to preload.

Yeah I got it through Origin and am not playing/didn't download from Origin.

It was weird. I checked at 7am and was able to play. For quite some time there were only about 30 people on Korriban, just the 1 shard. When I left Korriban there were maybe 80 people. So they are definitely light on people right now. I'm sure that'll change once work lets out.

But on a beta weekend I remember there being about 180 people on each Korriban shard and there were about 7-8 shards.

        For the Sith Warrior mission "A New Master", defeating Teeno first will prevent players from speaking to Phyne to progress as intended.

        Workaround: Sometimes, players can leave the mission phase and enter again, which may allow for Phyne to be selected. If she is not, players will need to abandon the mission and complete the fight again, this time ensuring Teeno is not defeated first.

        For the Bounty Hunter mission "A Dangerous Action", female Bounty Hunters may be unable to progress when attempting the step: "Speak With Juda."

        When using the Master Looter grouping feature, players currently cannot assign loot to other people in the group (normal or Operations groups) when that loot is from a chest and will receive the message: "Access denied."

        When grouped with another character of your same class and while inside a Class Phase, looting may request players to roll for loot rather than giving it to the player automatically. This happens most often when group members are not within the proper proximity to be eligible for the items. Note that the window may require more than one roll attempt, but the appropriate player will receive the loot after about 30 seconds.
