Been playing this with Jarrodhk, and I must admit its pretty good. World of Tanks and MechWarrior Online in space is what describes Star Conflict the best.  The business model is free to play, but not pay to win.

I see you guys are buying a couple of the packs.  do they stack?  I see that the three listed are:

Mercenary Pack
"Allowance" 3500 galactic standards.
"VIP-Card" A permanent +10% reputation gain bonus.
"Private warehouse" A premium-sized warehouse for modules and weapons.
"Artifact scanner" Grants an additional attempt when searching for loot after the battle.

Galaxy Explorer Pack
"Fat Wallet". 10000 gold standards!
"Gold VIP". Permanent 10% bonus to reputation gain and a 10% bonus to ships experience gain - speed up the development of your ships!
Unique T2 Federation interceptor
Unique T3 Empire fighter
"Personal Storage". Get the maximum size of your warehouse for modules and weaponry!
"Decorations." A unique set of 5 stickers for your ships

Elite Pilot Pack
"Money Bag". 25,000 gold standards!
"Platinum VIP". Permanent 10% bonus to reputation gain as well as 10% bonuses to ships experience gain - Become the leader!
Unique T2 Empire interceptor
Unique T2 Jericho frigate
Unique T3 Jericho fighter
Unique T3 Federation fighter
"Personal Storage". Get he maximum size of your warehouse for modules and weaponry!
"Elite stickers." A unique collection of 10 luxury stickers for your ships

if one buys the Explorer and Elite pack does that mean you get 35k gold and 20% rep/xp gain?

Put enough time in on this to grind up to Rep 5 with the Tech faction. Overall it's a pretty decent game, and it's certainly not pay-to-win, and in fact, the premium modules are only as good as the 'blue', or 'faction' modules that you can purchase through market, or find as drops. Which is one step removed from the purple modules that apparently are the final word in module coolness. Those are dropped only. Haven't seen one yet.

You _can_ buy some ships for gold that you otherwise cannot get, similar to world of tanks. Not sure if the premo ships come with income or rep bonuses, or anything like that.

They DO start out at full synergy, which basically means that you can't 'level up' the ship... synergy levels improve the ships statistics slightly... what you see is what you get.

Overall? I like it. There does not appear to be 'one way to win'... teamwork is important, and it appears there are several paths to success, in terms of personal strategy. (faster, tougher, and hit harder, all seem to work fairly well at this point)

It doesn't hurt that the game looks pretty good

A few days in (and the steam dlc packs poorer *blush*), I must say I'm enjoying it, at least for now. I could have lived without the paks, but the long term benefits drew me in. The extra loot attempt alone is quite valuable. Not so much early game, but later on I see it being quite nice.

The bonus storage is nice, but can be ground out for cash in-game.

Real benefits long term? The gold, the permanent rep and exp bonuses, and the ships you would otherwise be unable to access. And the artifact scanner that grants a free loot attempt.

I am unable to find a way to view active bonuses in-game yet, so I am unsure if I'm getting my VIP benefits or not.

However, when I picked up the packs they apparently piled on a free 217 day merc license. (premium time)

Merc time isn't listed anywhere, so not sure if it's a mistake, or I missed something somewhere, or if it just wasn't listed properly.

I'm sure they'll get it sorted out eventually.

The more I play this, the more I am impressed. Strikes the balance between twitch skills, strategy, teamwork, and awareness. Nice game you got there Ruskies!

Put some more time in yesterday and I'm liking it as well.   It helps that you get out of the starter ship pretty quick and can try out the others.   Like the interceptors during the ctf matches as it lets you get cap points easily.   I need to plan out my upgrade path to get into the really fast ships.   

Once I get a little more time,  I'm going to try the scenarios so the pvp doesn't get old.

There is only one scenario at the moment (although it does scale a bit with higher Tiers), it is pretty fun. Can't wait until they expand the scenarios out a bit. The main reason to play them right now is the guaranteed item drop when you win. Which can be a purple (epic) module.

Really enjoying the game, between this, War Thunder, and Birds of Steel (360) I'm really enjoying what Gaijin is making these days.
