Wow, first time in a long time I ran into a queue on Sunrest. Last week I was able to jump right on at the planned start of the event. Now I've got a 30 minute queue that I doubt is going to drop very quickly frown

that's because last week they announced it was postponed well before when you tried to log on slywink

Grrr....damn queue on Shadefallen too.  Haven't had a queue there since the first couple of days.  I worked my ass off to get today free and get home by 3 and I'm going to be pissed if I miss the damn event because they lowered the pop limits for the event.

EDIT: and with around 5 mins left in the queue the servers went down smile

fear not. event hasn't started yet and servers are down for a patch. should be back up at 12:45 server time. Think the event is supposed to occur over the course of 2 hours so should make most queues survivable

Level 40 and I got into River of Souls, my raid group went in and I went with them.  Then we all died. I left the group - a 41 had no place in a 20 man level 50 raid.

On the rest of the event:  LAG, LAG, LAG, and mondo crashing.  I also found that against the bosses I couldn't get into melee range due to AOE. Ranged attacks weren't much better, if the boss was in range of me, I was in range of it and they one shot kill rogues.  I died a lot.

Found that in all, this was highly frustrating, wasn't much fun, and didn't reward worth shit for what I was able to participate in.

The game is great, but they have a LOT of work to do on events as I wasn't all that impressed with this one.

LOL, well that was pretty much just awful. Got the lower level weapons cache quest because they told people not to all go to Stillmoor (and a lot of people were having ping troubles in the higher level areas), then the server crashed while we waited on phase 3, they got phase 3 back but then we didn't even fight Alsbeth, it somehow skipped that part and just gave us all the achievement after we hit her like 2 times. Then the server crashed again.

The sheer amount of tears on the Sunrest forums could drown Saudi Arabia.

And the general forums are going nuts.

This is community suicide Trion is committing.

yeah, it was handle horribly. we crashed the server 4 times. I just logged out. I gotta finish up batman AA anyways. These events are always lackluster, but I was expecting more? I guess, I don't know. Killing 11 bosses was it. The bosses died in like a minute, meh. I was hoping we'd have to defend stuff as well, ya know, a real invasion.

That was what amused me-a major invasion event hands down beats the world event as far as epic battle/fun/challenge.

Here are their intentions for 1.2 patch:

http://forums.riftgame.com/showthread.php?165691-New-Info-Updates-to-PvP-Souls-Crafting-and-more!

Here are the reparations for today's debacle:
Quote from: Trion
We're going to assume that if you are an active subscriber you were intending to participate in the final stages.

1) Operating on that assumption, later this week everyone will be receiving an in-game mail with the River of Souls Event Reward Pack containing:

Symbol of Purity This item starts a quest you can complete to obtain

    250 Otherworldly Sourcestone
1x - Purified Treasure Cache Contains a random chance of obtaining one of the special world drop event rewards from the day of the event
Common Grave Goods Bag -Unique 20 Slot Bag (NEW ITEM)
Uncommon - Shroud of Anti-Life Lorn non combat Polymorph
Rare Nimble Spectral Horse 90% Speed Mount
Ultra Rare Swift Spectral Warhorse 110% Speed Mount
Shadetouched Weapon Cache The starter item for the Rare Death weapon quests. You can choose whichever level appropriate one you'd like.
The following two Achievements, since not everyone who was (or wanted to be) present was able to obtain them.
        Grim Hero
        Grim Protector

2) The achievement for kneeling to Alsbeth will remain available in her incarnation inside the River of Souls.

3) Additionally, we're also going to continue the Otherworldly Sourcestone drops for the next few days, for those who haven't yet finished off their collections and would care to.

4) And since the question has come up quite a few times -- the ability to complete the quests from the Shadetouched Weapon Cache will continue, such that you're always able to finish them.

well that's certainly cool. I will say, Trion does respond well to their player base. I mean, that took less than a day on a weekend no less. Not even Blizzard has done that type of turn around quick. With those extra shards I can buy last 2 pets I need too, so that's balling.

I got both of those achievements, right before the server crashed lol.

I did pretty well yesterday after all of the hassle but I know I'm in a minority.  I got the all of the achievements, 18 slot bag, the lvl 50 cache (which is beyond great since I can use it at 46), enough stones for the 50 epic trinket and the server never crashed.  Shadefallen was full but stable.

Well that's just BS. I waited online for hours and sat through multiple server crashes and made my way to Caer Mathos for stage 3 and now some random who didn't even log on is going to get the same achievements and rewards for doing nothing at all? That's it, I'm cancelling my sub.

Oh, sorry...I was just channelling what I expect to read on the forums today.

Smart move Trion. After participating in the whole even....every day up until Stage 2 I spent all of my time on my main chasing Death Rift's and invasions.
Yesterday I got bupkiss after running with a raid group in Stillmoor for close to 2 hours...Nothing...

I see this as Trion trying to be fair to everyone.. And that's a good thing. The elitists will hate it though...also a good thing.. nod

Hehe.  You had me going.

Response #1: Don't let the door hit you on the way out!  Can I have your stuff?
Response #2: The only way Trion will get the idea that they are my slaves is if we all quit.  Bravo!
Response #3: It takes a big man (er, company) to admit their mistakes and try to make amends.  Give them a break, they are doing the best they can.
Response #4: The event was great!  Your fault you didn't log in in time!  QQ moar, nub!
Response #5: ...

My opinion: this is the best they can do given the circumstances.  I would love to see them publish their actual event post-mortem, though.  smile

Clearly, it's Cryptic's fault.  icon_lol

Seriously, I didn't find this event or the friends weekend did anything on my server (Akylios) but dry up the player base (where'd everybody go?) and in the process reduce the number of rifts and invasions in some upper level zones to roughly zero. I can't tell if every one just rolled new characters, or just stopped playing on that server but it's often felt more like a ghost town than an MMO, even at peak hours. I didn't expect it to feel like post-launch forever, but I've had little opportunity for the mass-Rifting that I enjoyed early on.

I'm glad for free goodies because I haven't had the opportunity to play for a week and missed most of the event.  Business travel + HoneyDo List = No Rift.  So I get to log in and get some free shit.

Yeah, so I'm one of those freeloaders who didn't earn shit and I'm getting a nice new shiny anyway.  Sweet.

I seem to have hit a bit of a wall at 45.  I'm in Iron Pine Peak and my quests are minimum level 48 now and just too difficult for me to solo.  I did leave behind a bunch of quests in Droughtlands so I guess it's probably worth going back and finishing that line.

The sheer density of mobs is starting to irritate me now.  Sometimes you can barely move five feet before yet another attack.

What about shimmersands...plenty of mid 40s quests there as well.  I've done a handful there and I'm finishing up Iron Peak now after just hitting 47.  Try to hit some same level invasions too...even at 46 a full invasion at my level was close to 20% of a level.

There's a lot of overlap at the higher levels so you shouldn't be running out of quests.  I hit 50 and I still have a ton of Shimmersands quests and some Iron Peak quests I haven't done.

Have you done everything in Moonshade Highlands?  That's a bit lower level for you, but it might push you up to the level you need to be to finish up Iron Pine Peak.

Here's a map showing the level ranges for each area care of RiftJunkies.

You can also run some PvP Battlegrounds or do dungeons to gain a few levels.
