I tried, I really tried. But forum effect causes another casualty. I haven't upgraded my PC in about 2 years. So I just ordered this:

Any tips on a good monitor? I have an old Samsung 22 inch atm.

So I've torn a rift in my CC...and should be zooming through the game world in about a week.

24" or higher, depends what other features you need, hdmi maybe, i use mine for my 360 and ps3 as well otherwise i'm upstairs which sucks.

Got Fayyde set up on Sunrest to hopefully hook up with the Wanderers.  He's a Rogue.   I may make a cleric too, a little undecided between the 2 classes

I have a Marksman, Ranger, Bard. not overly taken with it, the pet is a pain, think i might respec and dump the ranger

I can't imagine how the pet is a pain. Marks/Ranger may be the most common spec I've seen (it's mine too) and the pet is key to soloing for markmsman.

The part that makes it awesome is if you're a Bard primary. One of your 2nd Tier (so at least 5 'AA' points in) skills is to change your Charge gainer into a 100% of damage done heal to yourself and up to 10 Allies within 15 feet. It's quite powerful not only in solo play, but during Rift events too.

Yeah, I'm going to be coupling that with the Riftstalker healing bonus. Not sure what I was thinking about when I took the assassin soul though.

Up to lvl 16 on my cleric. Starting to see all the stuff I didn't in beta because I never did any guy over 15. Been going around to a bunch of rifts to get planarite and start buying gear. got some purple and blue stones from the invansions, which never get old.

finally got into sunrest and created a necromancer.  got invited into the wanderers.  then had to log off to do some housework.

now i'm ready to play for a bit before i have some friends over for a boardgame night and viola...hello queue.

man i just log out for 45 mins to the char screen, then it disconnects me when i get back, now i'm back waiting in line for over an hour.

Wished we picked a lower user server like the other RP-PVP server.  With my gaming time severely limited this really blows.

I'm thinking of trying to start a guild (or just joining one) on Harrow. As much as I'd like to play with the Wanderers spending my free game time in queues isn't worth it.  They keep opening new servers and telling people to go to them, but they keep saying whether they'll raise the population caps or not.

even if you guys were on a different server, you'll have queues come launch.  Short of waiting a month to start playing it's not something you can avoid.  I'd rather be on an established server with decent guildbase.

I upgraded to the CE last night but don't remember seeing the bag in my mailbox.  I did it more because I was sick and tired of running everywhere,

looking at the Shard page I'm guessing they just re-booted the servers because most of them are low/medium pop.

you don't get the bag in the mail, it's an auto upgrade to your main backpack.

Yes, they rebooted around 6pm eastern (maybe it was 6:30, I stopped to make dinner). Now I've got another hour+ queue to wait through.

It would be my pleasure, Raz!  I'm on Icewatch which is where I think Reemul intends to play too.  I'm Defiant, hope that doesn't bother you.

I should add that I won't be steamrolling through the game.  For my first character, at least, I plan to take my time, enjoy the world, even read quest text etc.

I created my character on Perspice yesterday since it showed as a Low population server.  I've not had to worry about a queue yet, though that could change on official launch.  I keep debating on whether or not I like having Edge Smoothing on in the graphics.  I think I don't like it because it just makes everything look kind of blurry.  Game isn't quite drawing me in like WoW, but I guess I should give it some time.

well, the servers are being taken down now, so I have time to write ;-) The queue for ICewatch is pretty big, so I made a character on Firesand. I'll get on Icewatch as soon as possible, but I don't want to wait over an hour to log in :-)

Hark, you were definitely right about crafting generating usable stuff - I must have been confused. I have already crafted myself bows and rifles that were significantly better than the stuff I was getting from questing.

I think the immediate advantage that WoW has over Rift for people like me that like to quest is that there is only one starting zone and path to level. Once I get to max level I'm not going to be too eager to go back and do the same quests again. But in WoW, you can start as undead and go through all the quests in the Eastern Kingdom, or start as an orc and go through all the quests in Kalimdor, and then even pick a different race and do some other quests at least 1-20 or so. If I'm not mistaken that was all there day one?

However, what I do like about Rift is that you have differing currencies that you can only get by doing quest/adventuring stuff (Lucky coins and Artisan marks), and I don't think WoW has an equivalent.

The 2 continents weren't there from the start?

the two continents were there, but they weren't mutually exclusive on content.  You didnt' just stay on one of them until 50 or anything. It was still pretty linear.

I prefer to collect their tears...while in queue I gather them from the forum QQ and then in game I gather them from the helpless deer and squirrels    It's even more disturbing when you realize the secret behind the "unusual" animals all around.

Yeah am I the only one sick of the constant rifts?  I play this type of game mainly to quest, not to close the same rift every 10 minutes.  Nothing ticks me off more than to be out questing and then get gang raped by 3 level 18 elites just because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I thought they were supposed to be a little unique, but at one point tonight, I turned around and there were 3 rifts within running distance.  Looked like something out of Independence Day.

Really?  Didn't seem to have an effect on Icewatch last night.

Speaking of invasions, they're great!  Last night I planned to log off at a sensible hour, and just as I was about to, an invasion started.  I clicked on the map and saw enemy units everywhere, with most heading for the two quest hubs I'm using at the moment.  Immediately the general chat channel filled with people making plans and coordinating a defense.  I hooked up with a small group at the nearest wardstone and repelled some elite creatures, then we just moved from stone to stone, battling the invasion.  It was a real rush; I haven't experienced anything like it in any MMO except Eve Online.  Sometimes we were repelled and had to regroup, but most times we overcame the odds.  Everyone was fighting properly; healers were healing, tanks and DPS were up front.  I was doing some of both, since I have some good DoTs and DD spells as well as good healing spells.  I loved having plenty to do and had a real contribution to make even though I was four levels below the invasion (three by the time it had finished ).
