And most important to me right now:   the scaling of the graphics actually MAKES IT PLAYABLE.   ARE YOU READING THIS You BUNCH OF GARBAGE CODERS OVER AT FUNCOM??????

Ok sorry snapped for a minute there.

When EQ2 first launched, everybody bitched about how they couldn't run it, just like they do with AoC now. It scales well because it's 3 1/2 years old, not because of some genius programming.

Well said. I remember trying to run EQ2 when it first came out.........I ran like a whimpering baby and never looked back.

EQ2's patcher is...less than efficient. Sometimes it'll just completely stop, forcing you to restart it, while other times you'll want to restart it anyway as the download speed has gone in the crapper.

To put it bluntly - its been a constant complaint from the players for years now.
This problem went away when I turned off the user access control in Vista.  I occasionally still have it with the beta patcher, but I stopped using it because of this.  Haven't had any issues with the original launcher since.

But...UAC is one of the major selling points of Vista! How could you possibly turn off something that CONSTANTLY nags at you every single effin' time you try to do, well, ANYTHING with your PC? biggrin

My return may be short lived as for some reason starting on Friday the game turns my computer off after a period of time. I'll be playing and click...the computer turns off. No other game or application causes this except EQ2.

That's a strange one.  I know MMORPGs are some of the most taxing games to a system, any chance you are having heat issues?  That's about the only thing i can think of.

Its gotta be heat issues. There's no MMO out there that'll push your processor as much as EQ2 does (due to its poorly designed engine).

Yeah it appears it was a heat issue. We had a couple days of 90+ weather, which is unusual here. I took my computer apart and cleaned all the fans and man was it dusty in there. Was able to play yesterday without a shutdown so all is well again smile

Guess what?

Living Legacy continues, with inactive accounts renewed until September 30, 2008.

Dammit.  Just subscribed on July 28, too.

Wow. Go Sony. Personally, I like all the additional players in EQ2 - makes it a bit more lively.

Anybody want to guess when the next Expansion will be launched? I'm guessing October 1st. biggrin
