Mythos could be coming back!  I wonder if they'll re-open the never ending beta again.

I loved Mythos and would love to see it get going again, but didn't most of the development team leave and go somewhere else after flagship shutdown?  Are any of them back onboard for this or is it a whole new team I wonder?

I think some of them are indeed working on Torchlight.

If it means anything at all, it means Hanbit might have the rights to do a Korean version with a Korean development team. Now I'm part Korean so I'm not going to disparage that idea, but I'm not sure you want to have to move to South Korea just to play Mythos.

I know that many gamers have been waiting for Mythos for a very long time. The reason we did not give out any MYTHOS news until now is because we have been waiting for the right time to provide the most accurate information.

Currently, Mythos is being reconstructed with a whole new look. We are trying to maintain the strengths that the game already had and improve them while eliminating its weaknesses so that Mythos can become more suitable as an online game.

Also various different content will be added to make Mythos a more exciting and engaging multiplayer game. In other words, our current development direction is focused on how we can improve Mythos so that you can enjoy with many other users, colleagues, and friends together.

Ha. Ya know, I'd completely forgotten the original Mythos developers (now Runic) aren't involved anymore.

Eric Liu: We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to take on Flagship’s project and continue its development. HanbitSoft acquired the intellectual property for Mythos, and now HanbiSoft’s parent company T3 Entertainment is developing it in conjunction with Redbana US Corp. Redbana will also be the publisher for Mythos in North America.

It would be so bizarre if Mythos and the Torchlight MMO came out around the same time.

Mythos supports a free camera as well as an isometric view. When you are moving around in the field, you have the option to move the camera around and enjoy the beautiful scenery; when you are in a dungeon, you can enjoy combat using a more efficient isometric camera specifically tuned for combat

Travel and map options are still in development. Currently, you use the world map to click on your destination, to find your current location and your next objective or NPC. Your area map, activated using the tab key, works much the same way that Diablo's did.

Each of the three classes offers three skill trees, giving players multiple "build" options and lots of room for individuality and experimentation. We plan to continue to improve on character customization as we listen to feedback. Resetting your skills will require [a] certain amount of gold after reaching level 11. The higher your level is, the more you are required to spend.

Ten Ton Hammer: So the game is in open beta in Korea. There's a lot of people anxious to know where the beta currently stands in North America and Europe. Could you give us a quick update?

Demian: That's our two million dollar question. My answer to the hardcore types in our audience in the past is that we don't have an ETA yet. It'll be ready when it's ready, and we're trying not to rush it through. The open beta in Korea, there's a lot of downtime because so many of the details are still in flux. They're definitely working on getting rid of bugs and taking feedback on the cost of items and how microtransactions will interact with the game.

We don't expect to see a closed beta until the game either launches in Korea, or is really close to launching full-on in Korea. Because we don't have an ETA for that, we don't have an ETA for the North American market.

Ten Ton Hammer: Do you have any target in mind as to how many players you want to involve on a single map?

Demian: The game is instanced, so when you're in a dungeon, you don't run into other players who aren't in your party. It doesn't have an overworld, which I guess is the term that was used back in the Flagship beta. The only place where you'll meet other players randomly is in the towns and hubs - all of these are public.

A few skills remind me of D2's Necromancer, including "Blood Boil," which detonates corpses within a 5m radius.

It was really horrible when I tried it last, seemed like the messed up everything that had been working fine before.  Hopefully they've got it back up and at least as good as it was before they took it over.
