isn't world of tanks in here too? I got the impression these were also games with persistant stuff combined with large community. (plus there is an overarching metagame of factions) |

I'm glad I did the next best thing and registered Hedy Metal. She'll be a tough, but attractive gal from a Lyran Alliance system. I'll have her starting in the canteen in one of those famous Lyran parts factories, but because she could take down troublesome customers with a single punch, barrista enough expressos to serve a Lance a minute and has an IQ pushing 140, she'll have been singled out for the Combat Tech program. Being distantly connected to House Steiner by blood she'll have swung that promotion into enrollment in the Light 'Mech pilot training program. I'm sure by the time the game actually goes live she'll have advanced from her vintage Stinger to a state of the art Hatchetman and be seriously hacking down DCMS and FWLM 'Mechs.  [Edit] Of couser the online game could turn out to suck and not allow such fun backgrounds. |

Are these developers any good/reliable? One of them was my next door neighbor for a while. As much as he was a sharp, young guy with a stellar library of programming books, I'd take a wait-&-see on this game. The studio (Piranha Games) has done a few good games, but nothing AAA, or really even AA for that matter. |

I should have mentioned above; one of the real plusses for this game is that Piranha Games' president (Russ Bullock) is a long time BattleTech tabletop player and compassionate fan of the series. So at least the compassion is there with them from the top down. Most of their videogames to date have also been very tight budgeted, so in a way they've never really been given the chance to shine. If there's any game where they're going to get that chance, this is probably it. |

Yep, you're both right - the Jenner and Catapult both had jump jets and I think that's true for almost all variants. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I posted earlier, just that I had a brain fart. Anyhow, great to hear that Jump Jets are in. |

They also seem to be implemented more like how the lore and tabletop makes them seem. They don't let you fly, they just give you extra manuevability and the ability to hop onto and over obstacles as well as to help mitigate falling damage
