I really like the Hydra map. I had a field day with the Valiant Sniper Rifle. Some nice lines of fire there.

Opened 6 Spectre packs so far and all I got of the new stuff was the Geth SMG, which I haven't tried but I hear is as useless as most of the other SMGs. I did however get an N7 weapon I didn't have before - the M99 Saber. Quite the punch on that one. I've even come around on the Crusader N7 shotgun. It weighs a lot but if you mod it for damage it goes off the chart, and it's also very accurate, more if you add a mod. Too bad there are no scopes for shotguns.  icon_twisted

I see that playing this weekend will unlock a pack with a guaranteed new class from the DLC.

That Batarian melee damage is awesome. I'm sure I saw him punch out at least one phantom on silver. I had a few minutes in spectator mode once that second phantom got the fatality move on me.

Per that, here be the Resurgence Weekend details.
Quote
Operation RESURGENCE (Apr 13-15)

Operation BEACHHEAD eased the pressure on allied planets and freed up conventional forces that were being hammered by the Reapers. With these reinforcements, the allies can use RESURGENCE to target more critical infrastructure.

Anyone who has the Resurgence Pack multiplayer DLC operational during this weekend will be granted a Reserves Pack.  A Reserves Pack unlocks one of the new random alien classes guaranteed.

All participating squads will earn +10% additional experience when playing on the Resurgence expansion’s new maps, Firebase: Condor and Firebase: Hydra.
I was hoping they'd have some sort of Gold challenge event at some point. Not that I'm a masochist, just thought it'd be fun to have some enticement to play that difficulty level.  icon_smile

I like the Hydra map, it's just that on Bronze, large swaths of the map have nothing on it and sometimes by the time you get to the area they're at, they're gone.  icon_razz But there's a nice mix of areas where you can snipe from, and areas where a lot of close quarters takes place and what not.

What? The 70k+ credits aren't enticement enough? smile

My brother and 2 friends and I did a Gold Reaper the other night (before the new DLC) and man was it tough!  I didn't have fraps loaded to record some video, but there were several times during a wave where 2 - 3 banshees plus 2 - 3 brutes were on top of our location.  It was fun, but so much work! Haha...

One problem with Gold is that you're having to do such specific things to survive that you are playing the same things over even more so than the other difficulties. Sure, the MP mode is all about the same maps, and same enemies, but the problem is now you're using the same tactics and positioning to grind.

At Bronze or Silver, players have room to let their personal styles play out, going solo for a little bit,

Yes, my handful of Gold attempts with PUGs have been slaughters, usually within the first three rounds.

By enticement, I just mean, A) That I'll put up with the high likelihood of self-slaughter for the sake of an XP bonus  icon_smile, and B) That I'll actually find any takers when I set up a Gold game. Sometimes when I've tried, nobody shows up.

I'm all for working together, but other than Fooze and me, nobody I play with much ever talks on their mic at all (or simply don't have one). I do wish at the least the co-op game had some simple chat or voice macro lines (maybe assigned to the Function keys or something) to do some basic communications, to allow that many players either don't have a headset or don't wanna talk. I'm not trying to turn it into ME3: Rainbow Six SWAT Ghost Recon, I just think it would make teamwork a bit more possible.  icon_smile

I have a microphone that I've tried to use, but it became swiftly apparent no one could hear me. I need to fiddle with the settings obviously.

Opened one more Spectre pack last night and got... Krogan Vanguard. meh. I almost never play Vanguard. I was hoping for the Asari Justicar.

imho, the thing to remember with Vanguard is you don't Have to charge everything in sight. It's just one power (the Vanguards have access to a lot of other powers too), and I generally don't use it all that much in co-op games except as a finishing maneuver or to desperately get out of a jam.

With the mic, I'd fiddle in Windows Control Panel and also make sure the mic itself isn't on a Muted setting, which has often been the case with me over the years.

Finally got to try some of the new classes:

*While I like the idea of the defensive bubble, unless people are willing to turtle in one tight clump, it's of limited value since it doesn't move around with the player who casts it. The powers tree lets you also use it as a bit more of an "offensive" bubble, with targets within the bubble taking more damage. But since it doesn't "hold" targets in its bubble like Stasis does, not sure how useful it is like that either.

I'll probably respec the power to go with the modifier to make it 20-30% bigger

*The Battlemaster (Krogan Vanguard) looks cool but moves like a hippo on roller skates. Had very little success with the character so far. Except at dying.  icon_razz

Obviously I'm lost in Diablo III land like many others. But... we have fresh DLC, two new maps, new weapons, a new gear slot, a new mission objective and an interesting weekend event... I'm not sure I wanna risk my replacement Logitech illuminated keyboard again though.  paranoid

Rebellion Pack DLC
http://blog.bioware.com/2012/05/24/mass-effect-3-rebellion-pack/
Quote
NEW CHARACTERS
Vorcha Soldier
Thanks to their unique physiology and their Bloodlust ability, the Vorcha are joining the fight and are perfectly suited for the utilitarian soldier kit.

Vorcha Sentinel
The innate aggressiveness found within the Vorcha make them shockingly durable combatants, and when coupled with their Flamer skill, the Vorcha sentinel is a force to be reckoned with.

Male Quarian Engineer
Quarians have spent centuries at perpetual salvage and ship repair; the survival of their species depends on this technical expertise. When bringing the new Arc Grenade to the fray, the Quarians prove their prowess as effective engineers on the battlefield.

Male Quarian Infiltrator
The Male Quarian Infiltrator must actively rely on stealth while in the heat of battle, and when they make use of their Tactical Scan ability, they quickly prove their mettle while continuously dishing out the pain.

Ex-Cerberus Vanguard
When the Illusive Man turned to indoctrination in order to ensure the loyalty of his troops, many Cerberus operatives defected and joined the Alliance in order to stop the Reapers. Now that we’re on the same team, Ex-Cerberus Vanguards (along with their new Lash attack) are quickly proving their worth.

Ex-Cerberus Adept
A result of the Illusive Man’s early experiments in enhanced human physiology, Ex-Cerberus subjects are highly skilled combat and biotics specialists. As a result, Ex-Cerberus Adepts can lay waste to the enemy with their Smash and Singularity powers.

NEW MAPS
Firebase Jade – Surrounded by huge waterfalls, Firebase Jade overlooks an ancient reservoir built by the salarians centuries ago. Set up strategic chokepoints inside the base’s main buildings to get the jump on your enemy, and work with your team to meticulously clear each room to achieve victory.

Firebase Goddess – Nestled in the epicenter of a Thessian metropolis, Firebase Goddess is one of the last strongholds of asari resistance against the Reapers. With its circular layout, Firebase Goddess is a tough location to control. This arena combines heavy cover and elevated firing positions, so stay light on your feet.

NEW WEAPONS
Cerberus Harrier Assault Rifle – These Cerberus-modified Mattock rifles are fully automatic. Cerberus gunsmiths reined in the recoil issues, resulting in a gun that stay on target, but delivers slightly less punch per round than a standard Mattock. As such, the weapon is typically utilized by Cerberus’ elite troopers, who train constantly to make every burst count.
Reegar Carbine Shotgun – This electrical weapon improves upon the arc pistol’s design by generating a sustained current on its target. This weapon is named for the Quarian Reegar family, whose marines have served valiantly against the Geth.
Krysae Sniper Rifle – This Turian antimaterial rifle is modified to kill Reaper enemies. The Krysae’s scope uses a rangefinder that adjusts to keep the target in proper proportion to the shooter, which comes in useful when the sniper is forced into close range. Its specialized ammunition is both armor-piercing and explosive. In a desperate move, the Turians released its specifications over the extranet so that nearly anyone with a fabricator could manufacture this weapon to help the war effort.

NEW IN-MISSION OBJECTIVE

Randomly occurring during waves 3, 6 and 10, this new objective will demand that teams retrieve a high priority package and securely escort it to a designated extraction zone on each map.

NEW GEAR SLOT
A new slot will be available on the equipment screen, offering players a persistent gameplay bonus that will not expire after the end of a match. These new items will vary from weapon upgrades to character enhancements and will be available through reinforcement packs.

Operation Shieldwall weekend event
http://blog.bioware.com/2012/05/23/operation-shieldwall/
Quote
The Reapers are targeting our training centers, and your mission is to draw their fire and attention. Put them on the defensive! Buy us time, and the reinforcements in training will soon back you up.

Allied Goal: Promote 50,000 characters.
Squad Goal: Promote 3 characters.
Special Circumstance: Due to the failure of Operation SILENCER, more banshees will spawn with Reaper enemies and might also spawn with other enemies.

Squad Goal Success: Squad members awarded a Commendation Pack.
Allied Goal Success: All players awarded a Victory Pack (high chance of containing a Rare weapon).

Welcome to the next N7 Weekend Operation, Operation SHIELDWALL, beginning this Friday, May 25 at 6:00PM PT until Sunday, May 27 at 5:00PM PT, on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Please remember to set the “Upload Gameplay Feedback” setting to “On” in the online options to be able to participate in this N7 Operation.

I like both of the new maps. No luck getting any of the new unlocks yet. I did see a few others playing as male Quarians or Vorcha already, but not the renegade Cerberus guys.
