seems like many people still don't have dvd drives, so did sony put the dvd edition in the collectors edition package? just wondering is all. it would upset me if it was the cd version because i hear it's almost 10 cds big! for that extra $40 installing shouldnt be a pain in the ass for the purchaser.

It is the DVD version.  There are 3 versions, the CD version, the DVD version and the collectors edition which is DVD.

Given the cost of DVD drives, it amazes me that there are so many people out there without one.

They have a DVD version of the non-collector's, so I can't imagine the collector's edition would be on CD.

Also, the sys reqs for the coll edition says DVD-ROM is required.
