I'll just play from work from my laptop tethered to my iphone and routed through my monitor via KVM switch. Completely off the grid and an emergency button away to a generic spreadsheet.

Played it for the first time!

Loved it.  Totally loved it.  Especially as a Ranger, Guardian, and Engineer.  Funniest thing is, as a Thief (normally my class of choice in MMO's and RPG's) - I didn't like it as much.  But then, trying four professions in 6 hours isn't what I would call the most exhausting test in the world.  

(was pretty cool how the second I logged in for the first time, there was a Wanderers invite waiting for me too.  Wasn't expecting such a smooth guild interface).

Played it for the first time!

Veddy cool!  Glad you got to try it. I logged in for a little bit last night. I messed around in WvW PvP before the server went down. I look forward to the next proper Beta weekend. I want to keep working on my Guardian and try a new toon.

Just pre-ordered the standard digital copy. Nice timing too, I'll get to play in the test for the next 3 days.

I'm having trouble getting back into this.  After trying out Tera and currently methadone-addicted to D3, I'm finding the combat and movement slow and awkward.  Guess I'll try a bit of pvp to see if that gets me in the mood.

The pve is definitely a bit yawn inducing after Tera.  Thakfully the pvp holds up for me

Tera definitely seems like direct competition to GW2's gameplay, but I still find myself really liking their combat setup. If nothing else it comes across as having a lot of depth, and the PVP (first time I dived into it) was fantastic. Exactly what I missed from the old days, complete with huge standoffs at choke points, trying to get enemies to charge when they really shouldn't.

My favorite moment there thus far was when the two sides were facing off at a choke point. The side I was on was massed up on a cliff, with the enemy down below behind a building. They'd run out taking potshots, etc. I decided to jump down and act as bait. It worked perfectly - suddenly a handful of enemies decided to try and gank me, seeming to forget they'd have to do so with a small army of hungry ranged sitting on the cliff. I think they went through 6 guys trying to take me out.

It was a blast.

Even though this game makes joining a team no work at all, its still a wham, bam, thank you ma'am type of affair. No one talks, everyone just runs around doing the task, then bugger off to the next empty heart on the map, to do the same thing again. Hopefully it gets social, and thoughtful the higher you get.

Character animations leave a lot to be desired. The graphics, full on, are very passable but nothing "wowzie wow wow" about them.
I've pre-ordered the game and I will give it a fair shake when it goes live, but I don't think this is going to be a 2 or 3 year relationship, like it use to be in the old days of MMORPG's.

So do you have to re-download the entire game to play this weekend? I left the game installed after last month's beta... but I clicked on my install and it looks like the whole thing is redownloading itself. Ugh. I just wanted to patch it and jump in and play.

edited to add: No reinstall but apparently tt has to download 5gb of new content. Ugh.

Ya, I really wished amazon did the preorder=weekend beta much sooner than they did, because I went all prepurchased directly from the developers/publisher, and I think I would have waited after playing the last two beta events.

+1, though I only tried one class (Ranger) I have no intentions of playing at release.

I really should have played classes I won't play at release, the problem was I really didn't like playing them, so I went back to my 2 starting classes, Guardian and Elem.

It surprised the hell out of me that I enjoyed the Ranger as much as I did.  I've never been able to play a bow/pet class - I've always found them boring as hell.  In fact, the level 18 GW2 character is the highest I've ever managed to level one of those.

Guardian is going to be my first class on launch - a melee/bubble class sounds right up my alley.
