I was on the fence as well but I'm so glad I fell on the PC side. I'm not a hater of console FPS controls, but I don't see how some things are going to work with the analog sticks in this game. When you do a rocket jump with the Soldier, you need to go quikcly from looking forward in your run, to looking straight down for the rocket, right back to looking forward to start attacking. It's hard enough to use the mouse to track spies zooming by, and when you are a spy you need to change your viewpoint faster than a politician. As a sniper, you need to precisely go from aiming at a doorframe (so your laser dot doesn't give you away) to aiming at someone's moving tiny head. The 360 headset and having the game on a big screen TV are big plusses as well, but I'm glad I've got it on the PC. Added! Thanks for reposting the info.

Thing is, I've already played HL2 / Ep1 on PC. I'd like to see it "improved" for consoles. I'm not keen on buying the same game twice, and the fact that they don't have an Ep2/Portal/TF2 deal is a big f***ing turnoff.
At least if I get the console version I can get achievements and sit in front of my bigger-screen TV.

No, I don't necessarily want the PC version. Why? So I can have my ass kicked by someone with a 4k machine where mine is a paltry AMD x2 4000+ and a 7600 GT? There is a point where I don't want to be outclassed based on the hardware AND outclassed in skill.
I'm not prepared to sit in the bottom 5%. I am not CeeKay.
At least with the 360 it's a bit of a level playing field.

I'm on a single core Athlon 3500 and a 6800GT and I'm placing in the top 3 most of the time on my team. It doesn't look as pretty, but it's smooth as butter.

I'm on an Athlon 3200XP with a 6600GT and I'm... somewhere near the middle on a good day. Cowboy up and dial down the settings. Plus it will be the game of the month/week/2 weeks on the 360 and then get forgotten about like most multiplayer 360 games. I played Team Fortress Classic for over a year and I can see me doing that with TF2.

I played Team Fortress Classic for over a year and I can see me doing that with TF2. That was my thinking as well. On the PC this will have legs as long as Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat. How would the 360 version handle the pre-set voice commands, the ones where you hit Z, X, or C then choose 1-9 for your character to voice something? These are particularly well done for TF2, since each of the 9 classes has its own version of the voicing, in line with their character and style like in the Meet the _____ videos. Each selection seems to have two possible voicings, so there's a lot of variety. Playing Pyro wouldn't be nearly as fun if I couldn't yell a series of unintelligible (his voice is muffled by his mask) battle cries in the initial charge.

That was fun tonight. Making runs with Tals (heavy) while I healed him... ...only to get sniped by f'n wonderpug as I was doing it! Would you treat your real doctor that way!?
Is there a way to tweek it so you are always on the same team as people on your friends' list?
Playing with random a-holes gets annoying.
Although it's kinda' funny: As a medic, I get screamed at all the time. Everyone seems to think I should be healing "them" and noone else. As a sniper, heavy, or scout - I could sit in a corner and pick my ass and noone says a damn word to me.

There was a bee about to sting you, I totally swear! I didn't snipe you, I missed the bee! I was trying to branch out and give some of the other classes a fair shake. Sniper is ok but I feel too exposed to spies. Maybe it's because I've spent so much time backstabbing enemy snipers. Scout is fun but I'm definitely not very good with him. I put a lot more time into Soldier and he's becoming one of my favorites. I've gotten the hang of leading with the rockets and was racking up a lot of kills on Granary. Is there a way to tweek it so you are always on the same team as people on your friends' list? I don't think so. You can hold tab before entering a colored door to see what team they're on, but I usually get too impatient and/or simply forget which name was on my friends list. I wish they'd color them differently or mark them on the roster listing.

Soldier is actually becoming my favorite guy to team with when I play as a medic (which is 80% of the time it seems). When Heavy's hunker down and move really slow, I am even more of a magnet for bad guys than normal. Soldiers seem to be moving around more when on offense, and on defense I can usually hide around a corner while you guys stand out there and bombard guys. Playing with heavy's that like to move is still fun though - I love making runs for the Intel with them.
When Tals quit I looked for you, but you were on the other team. Hence the question I asked earlier. Auto-balancing and all that.
I think Spy is the neatest class, but I must be a bad actor, cause I never seem to fool anyone.

The sooner you start playing TF2 the sooner you can have that avatar of yours showing up on people's computer screens on the in-game rosters.

Tonight I am going to make a concentrated effort to figure out what the F*** I'm doing as a Spy. I am making so many nemeses on the servers I play on, I can't wait to get them back.
Until I get frustrated and switch back to the Doctor.
TF2 is one hell of a fun game. As a doctor, when a spy transforms in front of you and misses his backstab opportunity, it is SO great to take out your little doctor's saw and cut the bastard's head clean off.

I figured it out, but I'm not sure I should give up trade secrets OK, OK, I'll spill: what I've found works best is to put on your disguise while your in one of the re-supply rooms, and then use your cloak to infiltrate the other side of the map. don't immediately go for a kill unles there's one right in front of you- at one point I was actually running around with a group of enemies, waiting for the perfect moment. they split up and the doc and heavy went off and I 'joined' them. as they were crossing a bridge, the doc stopped long enough for me to backstab him and then I got the heavy too before he had a chance to turn around, and then I cloaked right away and found a quiet corner to disguise myself again and find more victims. oh, and never, ever de-cloak in front of enmies
