Since ATB has all but abandoned our Gears of War Fridays for GRAW2, I am attempting to revive interest in MP Gears of War.  Someone started a thread over at OctopusOverlords expressing interest in playing MP, and a few others expressed interest as well, so I'm planning to organize a game for this coming Friday night.

Game time starts at 7pm Arizona (7pm Pacific, 8pm Mountain, 9pm Central, 10pm Eastern), and we'll most likely wind up playing all of the different game modes, mixing things up from time to time for a little variety.  Odds are deathmatch will start the night off as a warm-up, and once we settle on competitive teams we'll delve into some of the new modes as well.

If you're interested let me know and I'll fire off invites when I set up the game.  If not, but you're online, you'll probably get invites anyway if we have trouble filling up all slots.   icon_wink

ditto. I'll actually be on as long as my 360 doesn't follow Rons in a little corrugated cardboard coffin.

I think I'm in too...I've been wanting to play GoW again.  You didn't mention, though I think the other thread states it...is the map pack required?

I haven't downloaded the new map pack, so no, it won't be required.  I also don't want to limit attendance by requiring others to download the new pack for $10 if there are those not willing to part with the dough.  However, the new maps added a number of months ago will be included (helicopter down and the museum).  But nothing costing any cash.

Purge and Dreamshadow, I've added both of you to my Friends list.

ATB, you interested in hosting?  You're a little more skilled at entertaining guests, so it might be helpful for you to host the game (and that would also require you to be present  icon_wink).

Just an indirect way of saying that you've hosted more games than I have in your Gears of War career.  "Entertaining guests" was merely meant to be the same as "hosting games", sort of like hosting a party and having guests over, you know, like.......................aw, hell with it.

My humor sometimes transcends comprehension.  It is a curse.

I'd like to be in - if I can get the kids tucked into bed on time, I'll be on hoping for an invite.

Sorry about the late night kick fest, KS, but we had great 3 on 3 grudge match going PR's team won 5-oh. We won 5-1 and we were up in the final match when purge quit like a chump when it was almost over.

At least he did so quietly.  He could have "pulled a PeteRock" and rambled on so long that we all wanted to drop out of the competition.

Wow, I haven't played Gears in months! I almost forgot how damn fun it is.  Thanks for the invite and I hope more people from GT start up some Gears Multiplayer action.

No problem about the kicks, ATB.  Now, if Pete and the rest of the guys I ended up playing with would apologize for all the chainsawing/grenading/generalized beatdowns they inflicted on me, I would appreciate it  icon_lol  Seriously, though, it was a lot of fun for me.  That was my first ever Gears MP game (and yes, it showed) and I sure hope I can jump in on some more GT group sessions.  I'll have to actually try to play through more of the SP game in the meantime - maybe that way I can get more than 1 kill per night next time!

Correction. Purge's 360 froze like a deer in the headlights.

Since the match was in progress and it was ATB's 3rd "last round", I figured there was no point in rebooting.

I usually have a habit of inviting anyone I "know" from either GT or OO in the case that they might be up for a game.  Occasionally I send invites to people without the game, but every so often my dilligence is rewarded with additional participants.  Our first round of games last night was a blast, and a few of us stuck around and managed to keep a good 3-on-3 series going for a few more hours.  I started the night horribly rusty, but by the end of the night the game was beginning to become instinctual again.

We never even got around to playing any of the other game modes because we were having so much fun with Execution, but hopefully next time we'll be able to try something new.

Anyone up for Gears of War this Friday night?

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!

I've been out of town for two weeks and I'm itching for some MP gaming action.  Our last get-together was a lot of fun and I'd love to play again.  Tonight Simba and I start the next level of obedience training from 7:30pm until about 9pm (intermediate-advanced: this class will prepare us to take the Canine Good Citizenship Certification trial in a couple of months), and then I'll definitely be up for Gears.

Only problem is I'm on Arizona time.  I'll be available to play sometime around 9 or 9:30pm AZ time, which is 9pm pacific, or 12am eastern.  I just hope that people will still be playing.  Hope to see you guys tonight (USMC, it was fun to play with you a few weeks ago - we haven't played together in quite some time - and I hope we cross paths again tonight).
