Cross-posted at OO.

Hey everyone,

So I had this idea and wanted to see if there was any interest. I know we have a reasonable number of Football Manager players here on the forums. So, I was going to host a world cup. Essentially it would work like this:

I create a new game in FM2010 or FM2011 (depending on which would get the best participation). I go on holiday for an absurdly long length of time - call it til the 2022 summer shortly before the world cup is scheduled to begin. At this juncture everyone participating joins the game, and selects their team. We then play out the world cup over the space of a couple of weeks.

I'd leave the game up most of the time for people to come on and look at their players, tweak their tactics etc etc. We'd advance at a reasonable pace - hopefully in time for everyone to do what they wanted to do.

How we'd go about assigning nations - random number allocation giving us a pecking order in terms of picking a team.

If you're interested, post below! Include whether you have FM2010 or FM2011 and which you'd prefer to do this on.
