I took a big risk on this race since I started so far back.

Things were going really well for me until that STUPID safety car came out... w/o his shunt gellar would've beaten me, no doubt. Lucky for me he was drunk and I had the fastest car on the grid with light fuel loads, so I was able to pull it together in the end.

Yeah I was real happy to see that safety car.  Then I was real disappointed to see my off.

gellar

That safety car killed me.

Well, back to the bad luck.

Istanbul Practice Lap 1 - Overenthusiasm bullshit costs me time and data (my experimentation setting was 45).
Istanbul Practice Lap 2 - Accident, done with practice.

That is some serious bullshit there. 45 is less than risky, how the HELL do I wreck? Hell I run my Aguri at 80+ for every practice lap and NEVER have these issues.

The guide I am going by, says to use 72, but at 45 there should be no way that I crash. Thats the second time thats happened to me though, and I practice conservatively.

It's raining pretty hard... that makes things more slippery.

gellar - remember Brazil in 03?

It rained like crazy, and 11 out of 20 cars retired... a bunch of them one after another into turn one... it was a very, very expensive parking lot!

I don't think you can use the terms "no way" in this game at all.  Look at me last race.  I was VERY conservative in my settings and still managed to off the car when I should have won the race.

Yeah... it happens all the time (that drivers get these sorts of results).  They are getting paid millions to do poorly though, so that probably softens the blow.

I almost pulled the trigger on a F1 '06 mid-season game today that was 70% or so done, and Renault was the team.

I shoulda went for it, just to see if I could win with it.

In gellar and I's other 2006 F1 league in our Hondas I had an awesome drive... started 13th, was in 1st within 4 laps... finished 4th.

Yeah it definitely happens.  I've had solo shunts at a pace/aggression setting of around 20.  Nothing is impossible.

And you winning in a Toro Rosso means very little about your skill.  It does speak volumes for the skill of the folks you are racing against though slywink

Considering it was a private league, and I was one of the last 3 invitees, I dare say these guys don't suck. 11 of them race in another league with me (where I am the Aguri) so these guys have been my teachers. Don't piss on my win man, these guys are good, not a bunch of new jacks.

I guess we will see next season then won't we? You just wait man, as soon as I get on my account, where I have KT, and can get in a better ride, I'm gonna surprise some of you. In every other league I am racing in, I am running well, so the days of Jason being the stereotypical new guy, are over.

See, I don't suck, its not my setups, or my aggression, or anything else, I'm not doing anything wrong, this Williams car is just a turd, and when you add bad luck to it, you get the results I am getting.

I'm not saying you suck, I'm just saying blaming the car is a bit silly.  I've seen scenarios where any given car can win (even unrealistically so), given the right setup/race/teammate/opponents.  You do seem to have quite a lot of bad luck in the Williams though.

The quality of each car is, within some vague ranges based on real car quality, quite obviously randomized at the beginning of each season... it makes the shitty cars more competitive and gives people a reason to join leagues where they drive the Super Best Friends.

Winning early in the season also starts snowballing the car quality, as podiums boost performance... then the people at the rear really are screwed.

It's a very flawed game... but pretty fun.

Can't believe I offed and gave dildo the lead in the GT season though... my own teammate laughs at me on IM.
