Every update keeps pushing EVE to the ultimate space MMO.  I don't want to play an MMO!  I can't play any other games when I'm playing an MMO, because the MMO takes all of my game play time.

But this.... All of those planets in the game that have just been there for show will actually have value and substance?  Will....to....resist....weakening.....

I just got suckered back in too...there's something about it that draws me in like a moth to flame.  I guess it's the sandbox, mature, space/sci-fi experience.  Can't wait for the planets to open.

I've been playing EVE for the past six months. Been thoroughly enjoying it! It's a very engrossing, mature MMO. 'Tyrannis' sounds interesting, but beware that you won't be able to fight over the planets. That gameplay will fall under the umbrella of 'Dust 514', the console FPS that CCP is now developing.

I've tried to get into EVE three or four times since around 2005.  It just never sticks with me for some reason.  Last time I quit I gave away about 1B ISK to a corp mate who had been a mentor of sorts to me.  I still read up on it every now and then and check the latest drama on who is doing what to whom but have resisted any temptation to return again.  It is a fine game that has done amazingly well over the years since it's very modest launch.

Argh!  Every time Eve Online is mentioned I have to fight the urge to re-sub.  Eve Online is my Deus Ex.  It really is the ultimate MMO but it requires larger time investments than any other (for most playstyles at least), time I just don't have.  I'll stick to Fallen Earth and having a little cry every time I think of the beauty of Eve.

I have no idea what to do.  Time to do some research while waiting for one of my chars to expire so I can start out fresh and run through the tutorial again.

I've been playing for the last couple of weeks.  Just been running level III missions and re-learning the game.  Having a blast so far.  Hoping to get into a corp sometime soon.  Going to hold off on PvP until I get a couple hundred mil in the bank and work some Pvpish skills up.  Currently have a Drake outfitted for mission running.  Got about 70mil sunk into it and a Cormorant for salvaging with 30 mil sunk into that.  I have 20 mil to my name so I am clearly not listening to the adage of don't fly what you can't afford to lose.  Good thing is the level III missions have been not too challenging in the drake and including salvage I'm now making a lot of ISK on each mission.  See ya'll in game.

I've haven't been doing much but logging in to set my training queue. 

I did get my Destroyer tricked out and haven't been in battle with it yet.  Fixin' to move my base of operations 5 jumps from where I am now.

I will get virtually no play time until next week or the week after.

I actually scanned down an Angel site yesterday. Was kinda fun and made me about 1.5m isk.

I gotta find something do to besides missions though. Thinking of fitting a Rifter for PVP and heading to .4 land just to see what happens.

Good idea. I'm about able to properly fit a Rifter for PvP and when that happens I'll speak up in the Militia channel and see if I can get myself blown to bits.

Did anyone happen to catch some of that Alliance Tournament action over the weekend at EVE TV? The videos have now been put up on YouTube. I found it to be fascinating, exciting stuff! One team even bought their victory after having been near completely wiped out. They paid the other team to self-destruct their ships.

Eve normally goes down every day for 1 hour of scheduled downtime.  The actual downtime is really more like 20 mins.  Well.  Yesterday or the night before they were going to physically move the entire server to a new location.  In the same building I think but with better equipment and cooling I think.  The scheduled downtime for the outage was originally something along the lines of 6 hours.  It's now run over 24 and people would mutiny if they could.

I guess they never played WoW, or Shadowbane or Conan or Anarchy Online or EQ or EQII .

Hope they get it up soon though.  My skill queue was up about 9 hours ago.

OK, this is in today's Steam Sale for $2.  How much is time cost for this?  AT $2, I think I might give it a try.

At 2$ you can't go wrong. The game is skill based however, and training up the skills is time based. All you need is time. (and money to buy skillpacks you don't already have). Timewise, it's nice. You can yield pretty good results with just a few days in the right places. The part where people go wrong is when they try to 'level up'... aka move up to bigger ships... before they can really afford to. It's not really a case of skills... although you need the skills to fly them... it's a case of Money.

Golden Rule: Never fly anything you cannot afford to lose. Period.

You WILL lose ships in Eve. Be prepared for it.

The downtimes are normally trivial.

There's no GT corp at the moment. Cortilian and me are in the Grizzley25 corp in the Ashab system. The guys in it are pretty cool. They're helpful and tutor you thru the game. I recommend you join us.

Hooked up with Soulchilde and got him into the corp with PRGMR and I.  I'm still playing a couple hours each night and having fun.  Oh, for the extended downtime mentioned before they gave us a instant skill point credit  which is very cool.

Hopefully they'll remove learning skills sometime in the near future and credit those as well .
