Just graduated and trying to find a job.

Even if the game is super laggy the first few days, at least this has a single player mode that I'm interested in, as opposed to modern combat where the SP wasn't all that interesting really.  If nothing else I can amuse myself killing trees.

Want to work in industrial hygiene and move to Phoenix?  I could use someone with reasonable attention to detail, dependability, some technical writing ability, and willingness to learn.  Ah well.  Guess that rules you out.   icon_wink

So I guess this means you won't be coming out to visit anytime soon.  Although this time of year you'd be vaporized the moment you stepped out of the air-conditioned airport.

We do have a guest room.  And a big TV.

And did I mention I know where Knightshade lives?   ninja

I need someone who doesn't use the wrong edition of Word.

I still have this game pre-ordered and I'll have at least a full week to play it with you guys.  Been busy getting battle ready and loading up all our connex boxes. Really sucks that I'm going to be missing out on all the friday night fights, and I'm even going to miss out on Gears of War 2.  crybaby

But your military-issued rifle at least has a chainsaw, right?  If not then your superiors need to get their act together.  Otherwise how do they expect you to prepare for Gears of War 2?

Pete: I will come and visit!  This requires me to have a job for a while first so that I can afford to do so, but it will happen.  Hell I'll probably drag Moriarty along as well.  You too can experience the pa... joy... <looks over shoulder fearfully> of knowing her in person.

Kato: Good that we'll be able to play a little before you have to go off to the sandbox.  Won't be the same without you.

When you two jokers come and visit I'll try to drop in for some Rock Band action.

So I pre-booked my game today at my local EB.
They gave me a neat dvd case with the code for my sniper rifle in it as well as a keychain shaped like the smiley face on a grenade pin.
I registered for the newsletter so they emailed me the code for my support LMG.

Just wondering, about the demo Specialist weapon.
Did you guys get an email with a code for reaching rank 4 on the demo?

Also, check player stats on line, is that only once the game goes live?
I didn't get anything for registering/linking my GT/checking my stats.

Edit: Noticed that in my stats there is a section that says Find All Five Demo : unlocked

Anyone have an unlock they're particularly curious about?  I'm going to download the PS3 version of the demo so I can unlock and try out the two demoman shotguns but there's nothing else I'm dying to experiment with for the 3rd unlock.  If anyone wants impressions of something I'd be happy to test it out.

Don't know if unlocking the Spas will be worth it.
That second shotty I am very interested in impressions.

Other than that, maybe the silenced sniper.

That one I unlocked in the 360 demo after Hark warned me away from the M95.  Very very nice.  It fires extremely fast, and it doesn't displace the crosshairs too much with each shot so it's very possible to fire several times a second.

If you ever catch me online playing the demo let me know and you can teamkill me to try it out for yourself.  My other two 360 unlocks are the AT mines and the support mortar strike.

So far the unlocks I've been pleased with (not in order):

M16 - good damage and accuracy
MG36 - good accuracy and has a scope when zoomed
AT Mines - good damage and ease of use
C4 - awesome in every way slywink
Mortar - very good addition to the class, almost makes up for lack of anti-vehicle utility by providing better anti-infantry
Laser Designator - good all around once you get used to it
SVU - fast firing, low noise, good damage in the tradeoff
C4 - did I mention this is awesome?

Unlocks I have not been pleased with:

M95 - simply doesn't do enough over the original to justify an unlock
XM8 LMG - might be ok if it fits your playstyle, but it takes a few more rounds than the other guns to kill with and doesn't seem to have the accuracy to make sure those rounds are on target.

How have you unlocked so many things?

Also, explain WHY the C4 is so awesome.

I played in the beta and the demo, plus you can pick up other people's weapons to try them out... noob. slywink

C4 is awesome, that's why it's awesome.  It's so awesome that it defines the word awesome.  If you unlock it and don't think it's awesome, you don't understand what awesome is all about.

Though sometimes with lag, I'll throw my c4 on a vehicle and it'll 'stick' but when I detonate it, the c4 wasn't actually on the vehicle, it was on the ground under me.

C-4 is very utilitarian.  It will one shot tanks of all kinds, you can take out a crate pretty quickly with it, you can use it as a trap at crates, or anywhere else really.  Drawbacks are that you have to take the time to pull it out, you have to get close enough to throw it onto something/one (although I've seen some people that were pretty good at jumping and tossing it a fair distance), to detonate you have to have the detonator out as opposed to a weapon which can leave you vulnerable.

All in all I really like having C-4.

Also you forgot to mention that you can stick you entire C4 load on a crate and detonate for a CRAPTON of damage.

I usually do that followed by aggressive knifing of the crate for the win slywink
