man last night was a gankfest for me. There were level 30s camping so many quest spawns. Or just plain a billion heroes everywhere. The pvp is quite awesome though. Some level 18 tried to kill me, I would have killed him but of course 2 more had to join the fight. Revenge was gotten later. People who mash their keys are great. Just roll away and hit from range and break their blocks.
yep, that was what I was talking about. it just wasn't fun getting jumped by three or four guys every time I tried to do some leveling or even leave the re-spawn. I'll give them kudos for being very well coordinated, it'd usually be a couple of AoE attacks followed by them running in and tagging me as I broke off any stun effects. last night i fired up a lvl 4 character i had on a pvp server just to check it out. there was a level 30 hero hanging out right outside the spawn point for all the new characters. he was just sitting there, attacking all the lvl 4 through 6 characters that tried to step outside the shield around the spawn point. if you're a rabid pvp fan and you try to argue that that is fun, you're a moron. what skill is there in shooting fish in a barrel? here, i'll answer it for you: none. deleted that character and remade him on a pve server. at least there, i can be assured of at least experiencing the game. what's even worse is that he was probably doing all that with one hand.

I guess I have been lucky. I haven't had that happen yet. And if it does, I typically just move on to a different quest, or wait until help arrives.

Hepcat was talking about a spawn point, the place where you respawn after being ganked. Kinda hard to move on if you can't get away from the respawn. I haven't checked, can you specify to go to another, or is it just whichever is closest?

By the way, speaking of spawn points, what does the console located within the spawn bubble (that you can interact with) actually do?

That was a great mystery when they showed up abruptly after one of the beta patches. As best I know, it is still a mystery.

I noticed that when you bring up your map there is an option to Warp Rally Point or Hall of Doom, so if you end up getting someone camping your spawn (or as the game calls them, 'rally point') you can at least get out of the general area by going to the Hall.

Still too new to realize you could warp out. At least I have a way out if I ever decide to try a PvP server again. Gamespot weighs in with their review and gives DCUO a 7.0. Honestly, I agree with almost everything they say.

Still too new to realize you could warp out. At least I have a way out if I ever decide to try a PvP server again. heck, I'm been playing on and off since the beta and I didn't realize it was there until last night, Googling turned up no solid info on the machines in the center of the rally point. someone said it sets that rally point as your teleport point, but I tried it and it definitely didn't. I did some exploring of Gotham last night and checked out those forefields on the other side of the river (I think it was Old Gotham); they are covering buildings, but the most amazing thing was the fact that there were no enemies around. I flew around, found a rally point but not one mob. unless they were ninjas.....

If it's as big as the absolutely huge and unnecessarily giant space station of absurdly overblown largeness on the Hero side, then yes, it is.

Quarter to Three's Tom Chick weighs in... (It's more of a plea from someone who enjoys the game to make it better, rather than some diatribe against it, fwiw.) 12 things that need to be fixed in DC Universe Onlinehttp://www.quartertothree.com/fp/2011/01/27/12-things-that-need-to-be-fixed-in-dc-universe-online/12) Fix the quest journal 11) Fix the chat 10) Provide better documentation [He must think this is 1995 or something, documentation is no longer in vogue -bj] 9) Fix the controls 8. Provide a toggle for sets of gear 7) I don’t have a square button on my PC [Usually a tell-tale sign the PC is a second class citizen in a game's design-bj] 6) Let people on the PC play with people on the Playstation 3 5) Do something — anything! — with leagues 4) Talk to your player base 3) Support cross-server instances 2) Tell me what Nightwing does 1) Kick Mhun from the Cry for Blood server

I would also add "put in a few more power sets"...well, at least a strength based one. Having a superhero game that doesn't allow you to have a character based on just pure strength is just goofy. And yes, brawling serves many of the same purposes, but that's a skill set that still requires you to select a completely unrelated power set if you want to go the pure strength route.

They have answered the strength set somewhere. Said it wasn't working out well and needed more time, to be added in the future. Something along the lines of not fun etc etc. think it was in an interview on eurogamer but not really sure.

yeah, I can't remember where I saw it but I remember reading that 6 power sets got held back 'for testing'. searching didn't turn up much, but I did find the Green Lantern Power set will be coming eventually.

so, how exactly do I get influence for a particular faction? On the hero side (and on Cry for Blood), I have seen a helmet I really want for my costume, but I need to be "friendly" with the Sentinels of Magic. Ok...I can understand that...but how do I get influence? I have influence as a currency, but it is simply marked as, "influence".
So, how do I gain influence with specific groups or factions?
Oh, and I hate going to the Watchtower....

for some reason playing a villain doesn't really feel like I'm playing a villain, but more like I'm playing an anti-hero like the Punisher. for example, my latest quest line has me taking on Bane, breaking up his Venom trafficking and taking down his men. Last time I checked Bane was a bad guy too.....

Couple reviews are out, one positive (MMORPG.com), one eviscerating (Gamespy): MMORPG.comhttp://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/350/view/reviews/load/132/DC-Universe-Online-The-MMORPGcom-Review.htmlGamespyhttp://pc.gamespy.com/pc/dc-comics-mmo/1147072p1.html*The part where he complains about "in one section of the mission, I spent several seconds in midair, being juggled by fans, giant yellow balls, and damage shields," actually sounds like a lot of fun to me. Any buddy keys? I'd still like to give it a whirl, some day.

cheap subscriptions coming for a limited time. $29.99 for 3 months, starting the 8th, and if you auto-renew for 3 months at a time they'll let you keep it. basically you could be paying 10 bucks a month for quite some time.

I have absolutely zero desire to fire this one up again anytime soon. it's not a bad game, it's just that the boss fights are BORING. they gave the bosses so many hit points you are in for a good five minute clickfest if soloing, and the NPC helpers they put in to 'help' you are fairly useless.

Plus the Q's for shit are so broken. In this day and age not having stuff like that cross servers is inexcusable. The mark has been set. Waiting 30 mins for a pvp match is not my idea of fun.

I'm still enjoying it but only playing a couple nights a week for a 2-4 hour run. Also, only really playing with a friend of mine so little soloing gong on besides making an army of alts. I can see the warts though but in small spurts they are easy to ignore. Well except the chat system which is the worst thing I have ever dealt with. It's infuriatingly bad and just inexcusable in this day and age.

Ah you guys have a big thank you from me....this is the first big MMO I haven't bought and played at launch and now I feel pretty good about that choice.......I am sorry you had to take that bullet for me though.
I played it for almost 50 hours according to steam. So not like I didn't get screwed. I just wanted to pvp and it's apparently broken. Oh well. I have to cut my back log down anyways.

The game is fine, I just lost interest in in pretty quickly - I think, once its matured, it will be a pretty awesome super hero game.

I agree with Raz. I think in a year or so, it will be worth revisiting. Hopefully in that time they'll add more to it so it's not a pale imitation of an action/rpg. the depth just isn't there right now.
