Not sure who else will be getting in on this, but this will be my first time through on any of the souls games, didn't have a ps3 so never got to try demon. So I'm going in very very green, looking for some people to play co-op with. So if anyone is interested in playing some Co-Op post your xbox live tag and I'll add you to my friends list. Can't wait October cannot come soon enough.

I will most likely be in for this as well. Never played Demon Souls but the concept intrigues me enough to want to play it now that the sequel will be on the 360.

Is it even possible to arrange coop in this game? I don't think Demon's Souls let you control these things, or even talk to the other players directly.

I don't really know how it works, but was wondering if it just allowed you to join games via xbox live.

I'm not so sure myself but I think you guys might be in for a rude surprise if you're expecting the easy matchmaking service of other coop multiplayer games.

I'm pretty sure it's quite different. Persistant people can still hook up though.

Wonder why they wouldn't want to make it easy for people in your friends list to get hooked up, odd.

Similar to the argument going on about difficulty sliders. Playing with any friends and using party chat would lower the difficulty and the devs are really pressing their point on it.
There will still be ways to hook up, it just won't be easy

You have any idea or tricks to get people you know in the same group as you? I'm totally in the dark as I never played Demon Souls and didn't even realize this would be an issue. Hopefully we can figure it out, also I have a ventrilo server we could use since they are disabling communication except for gestures.

I was going to suggest that Dragon's Dogma might be a better choice but it sounds like that one isn't going to come with co-op which just seems friggen unexplainable!

It's because of the isolation. You're supposed to feel alone against insurmountable odds, and even the help you do get from other players is fleeting and impersonal.

i THINK there are things players can do to "move closer on the network" (whatever the heck that means!) so theyre more likely to interact. things like joining certain or similar covenants, aligning humanity or being in the same general area in the world. i think theres even something like maintaining (kindling) bonfires. the devs have been really mysterious about just how it works so i cant even promise that what i just said is accurate! regardless it should be interesting and ascendent i think you should be prepared for a much more indirect form of co-op (as someone else in this thread mentioned). and i can almost promise there isnt going to be a menu where you can pick from every co-op game out there to join. and canuck totally unrelated but dragons dogma is actually a game im looking forward to! looks fun, and i love the large classic myth based monsters.

Apparently you have to die about 10 times in a 10 minute timeframe to be able to play co-op with a friend. I'm joking, I have no idea how co-op or multiplayer is going to work

Clerics are a bit more of a selfish class in Demon's Souls than in regular RPGs. Being able to heal yourself is a godsend. I expect Dark Souls to be no different.

I cannot wait, this is taking forever to come out. I still might be playing the cleric though as a cleric, miracles, heals and slowly killing stuff.

I wonder what the mini strat guide contains? But aside from that it's a nice case, and since it cost as much as a normal edition I don't mind. So got my way to first demon guy, plummeted off the edge falling right in front of him and I managed to beat him, first few attempts didn't go as well but finally got him. Loving this game!

it's basically just the tutorial and a small sampling of the first area and weapons. Imagine a full strat guide with only the first couple pages of each chapter in it, that's it. It's a bullshit 'here's what the full guide looks like, so buy it!' ad.

Wonder now if it's possible to co-op ala this video with his buddies http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=iv&v=KqdB3ctJv1A&annotation_id=annotation_239873&src_vid=kO0GiWCiBHg just roll new guys and all white soapstone the same area? Been wanting to play this again, and think if I'm going to go through with it, co-op would be ideal, just co-op up to boss, train, upgrade, get hooked up again and hit the next area. These guys are doing exactly that.
