Stage 2Track: FIN S4** Car: Any!* Challenge begins: May 10, 2004 (That's today!) Challenge ends: Midnight, May 16, 2005 : Driver: 3:50.968. Pugeot 206. Croatia. : TehGellar: 3:25.734. Subaru WRX. Ireland. : SimonGG: 3:26.476. Subaru WRX. England. : Chaz: 3:29.74. Mitsubishi Lancer. Ireland. : naednek: 3:43.698. **S3 already had times posted to it. (*If you let me know what car and country you used for your time, I'll add it to the final details.) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I was wondering if folks would be interested in doing a week long "best time" challenge for one of the tracks in Colin McRae. I love this game, and since it's times only, it's a heck of a lot easier to play in since we don't all have to be online at the same time. I figure we just all post a time on a certain track, and the week long deadline will give folks a chance at beating the better times posted - until whenever the deadline passes. I'll update the first post of this thread with times as they are posted.

These are new forums Bill, so give them time to grow and maybe longer than an hour for people to reply. FWIW, I'm in when I'm not playing TOCA and RS2. I also need to see what tracks I have open.

Yeah, I know - but I had two replies within the hour there and it seemed like a good idea to settle on one place to post the info. I'm doing what I can to help the new place here.
The decided track, for this first round anyway, is UK2, which I just unlocked last night.

I'd love to get in on this but don't know how reliable I'll be with the 86,000 other driving games I'm trying to work into the rotation!

UKS2 Time: SimonGG 3:35.302 Subaru WRX England Pretty challenging track there Bill, especially that one narrow gate and hairpin turn. I'll give it another go this weekend and see if I can do any better than your 3:31.098.

Yeah, I thought it was a tough one, too. But I liked how it went from road to a tyre track road. One of the best tracks so far, I thought! I'm glad you had it unlocked - I worried I'd be the only one playing this thing.

I posted a time up there earlier tonight. It's on the Live board, which I can't get to atm.
I think it's somewhere around the 3:38 mark. Try as I might, I couldn't shave off those extra nine seconds. When I get back this weekend, I may mess around with different cars and see if that helps.

I saw your time, too, Chaz (I play mostly in the a.m.). I'll get it on the board tonight.
Don't forget to let us know which car and country you ended up using.

Good morning, Chaz! Ken, I want to do another stage after this one, so keep working at unlocking stuff. This has been great fun, even with a small number of participants.

What's funny with the Citroen is that I haul ass with it, but if I make the smallest mistake I've flipped the damn thing over.

So even though there's still a whole day to post times for UK2, I thought folks who wanted to move on could start on a new track. I think more people will have this one unlocked and can therefore pull a gellar: coming out of nowhere to post a great time.
Rules are the same. The track is Australia S6.

Man, I don't know how you freaks post those times. Is there a warp drive setting I'm missing?
Seriously, I feel like I'm missing something in the car setup that would help me with my times. Is there some trick to it? I've tried heavy steering, light steering, high and low gear ratios, etc, and I still post roughly the same times. Is there a trick to setting the car up correctly, or does my driving just suck?

Dammit Driver that time you posted is frustrating. I can get close, but always bobble in the 3rd section.
I WILL BREAK 3:20 THIS EVENING.

I've tried heavy steering, light steering, high and low gear ratios, etc, and I still post roughly the same times. Is there a trick to setting the car up correctly, or does my driving just suck? I really play with the car settings and choose different tyres, car height, brake settings, gearbox ratios (though I don't mess with this one too much) and I forget the other one. Steering is the only one I leave alone because I think the cars are slippy enough when I moves brakes one slot to the left. Tyres and ride height really make a difference, however. Those two and brakes display the most radical difference in how well you stick to the track, I think. And be sure to raise your car for gravel. Maybe you've already tried these things - I don't know. But I hope you find your sweet spot. I also like to watch my set time to see areas where I screwed up and can improve a little. I hope that's helpful. The next stage is totally different, so hopefully it won't be as crazy hard.

Rules are the same. The track is Australia S6. I've completed the 2WD championship but haven't touched the 4WD one, so I don't have that track unlocked.

Changed Stage 2 to Finland S3.
We'll save Austrailia S6 for the next track, if people are still interested.

I'm definitely interested. However, my job has me working 12 hour days all week, so my playing time is basically nonexistant until Sunday. If I don't get a time in on this round, it's not for lack of interest, and I'll definitely be in on next round.
