I don't remember seeing an actual announcement, but directly from a Blizzard poster on the forums it's official.

So unless I can get my hands on a copy of the CE version, I'm willing to wait on this one unless...

Does BC offer anything major for players that aren't close to the level cap short of the new races/classes?  My GF is (slowly) starting to get into it, and I'm re-rolling to run with her, so we're way, way far from capping.  If there is a bunch of fun toys for lowbies though, I might have to spring for copies sooner.

Beyond the new races and their 1-20 starting areas and quests, there isn't, as far as I can determine, anything for someone who hasn't reached 60.

Two new races, starting areas, and quest lines.

Dunno if there will be a new "n00b dungeon".

Thanks guys, that's pretty much what I thought.  I guess I'll try and find a CE version, and if not, just wait and see if we manage to cap our toons.

One thing a few friends have been telling me is to stock up on PvP points so you can get your full PvP set once you hit 60.  That way the other kids don't laugh at you  icon_biggrin

I have a few 60s, but none that I'm actively playing.  My paladin is like 54 or something, I really need to get back to playing.

True. I wonder if non-TBC owners will be able to use socketed items? Haven't really heard...well, actually, I'm too stinkin' lazy to try and find out on my own.  icon_lol

I'm sure they will.  I believe TBC allows you access to the new classes and new continents, but otherwise the experience will be the same (so they don't ban you from using purchasable items from the new realms).

But if all the socketable items are BoP from the Outland... you are SOL.

It could also limit your trade skills to only those allowed by the base WoW.

Is that the case?  I haven't put in any time on the beta server so I don't know.

What I do know from reading the thottbot beta site is that Jewelcrafters can create a variety of items for the under 60 crowd.  Looks like the lowest level ring they create requires level 15.

At level 17-18 or so you can start getting +2 to a stat with jewelcreafted rings and amulets.

I doubt they are going to repeat the design mistake they made with enchanting (meaning it's only a toy for wealthy 60s or their 'twink' characters).

All they really need to do is stick to how Diablo 2 handled socketed items, and they will be fine.

Not even going to buy BC for a while.  I mean...seriously.  $40 for an expansion, when my highest character is mid-20s?  Screw that.

I just preordered from EBgames.com.  Paid extra for overnight shipping... that extra $5 or so saves me the trouble of having to go into EB twice and I get the game on release day, so yay.

I'll be going into Best Buy on release day and see if I can get a copy. I went there on release day for the original and there was a full display case at midday, so I'm not too worried.

No hurry for me, my priest is only lvl 36 so I have a ways to go to get to new content (I had a few lvl 60's on another server but I don't want to go back to them).  I'll check and see if Walmart has the collectors edition, they usually are 3-4 days behind the release date on putting them out but as I said I'm happy to wait.

Well, to be a Devil's advocate, you can pay $25 to transfer a 60 to another server (within certain restrictions). However, I don't think it is the end of the world if I can't get my hands on a copy till February. My wife is salavating over the CE, but after SWG I've come to realize the CEs aren't that amazing in short term.

The last three games I bought online didn't show up at my door until at least 2 days after release. One I had to wait a whole week (stupid Thursday release made me eat the weekend too).

It's not the server (lightbringer) that they are on, it's just when I restarted I decided to go Horde and to try something I never played (healer).  I'm having a lot of fun on the RP/PVP server (venture company) and trying out the horde side of things.  I never was much into raiding before so my characters (Tiny, note I didNOT call them toons smile ) are pretty low on the equipment side of things.  Will the priest be different?  Don't know but I have gotten invites to run a few instances that I never got with my mage/rogue/warrior.  Anyways I will get TBC, and I hope to run down a CE version of it (I have the original CE).

My first Lvl 60 character was a priest.  LOVED the priest.  I started putting time into trying to get an uber-guild made, however, so it kind of sidetracked me.  Then I took time off, and all my friends started moving around to other servers.

But the Priest, if you are good, can kick almost anyone's ass 1-on-1 (some classes are harder than others, however).

You should have a much better time now, since you can go on the Battlegrounds and get some really sweet gear.  By the time I stopped playing him, it was really hard to get good gear (you had to be dedicated to raiding).  I'm thinking of playing him again, but Cosmos is all messed up- I'm hoping they can at least get Popbar working again.

Some people are actually already getting their copies via mail now. I don't know who is sending it out, but it's not the bigger ones.

As an FYI - your local EB has the game in stock NOW (or at least they should). They just can't sell it until Monday at midnight without being killed by some giant Orc. Took a look at my CE edition - talk about a lot of stuff included. And I love the Netherling pet (mini dragon like thing in a purple/black coloring) too.
