It is possible to pin a team down in a pretty small area and just murder them as they leave with their spawnpoint never moving. The only way it stops is if someone on the trapped team makes it out to another safe part of the map and people spawn on him or someone on the other team moves into the trapped spawn area, at which point killed members of the trapped team will spawn elsewhere.

Ah, and I'm pretty sure you're talking about Overgrown. I don't see how you lock down that map with 6 or 7 or even 8 people. Some of the spawn points are inside. I'm looking at an overhead 2d view of the map and the sight lines just aren't there to cover everything.

It would take a pretty rare set of coincidences to pull off the stuff you're talking about. There's more spawn points in most of the maps than there are total players. I don't doubt that it happens, I just doubt very much it can occur with any real regularity. And of course, situations somewhat like that are exactly what the Mercenary Team DM mode was created to avoid.

They are adding more spawn points in the patch in an effort to improve the spawn camping issue.

I'm going to be pretty much playing Hardcore Team Deathmatch from here on out.  Downside is my accuracy is really going down now.  I think it's because on normal mode when a burst of 3 comes out they all hit the target and kill it.  On hardcore when the burst of 3 comes out, the first round kills the target and the other two miss.  I'm playing the same, conservative bursts and no spraying and my accuracy % is dropping .01 per round in hardcore and gaining .01 every couple rounds in normal mode.

BTW regarding ATB's interesting math antics... the higher the numbers get the easier it seems to get a lower k/d.  If you have a round that you break even, it can actually lower your k/d % since the ratio has changed.

Yeah, man today was nuts.

I had what's likely to be my best all around game ever. 67/6 in a round of Domination on Countdown. Nuts. I hit 25 for kill streak but died that 6th time right there making a stupid mistake. If I'd not made that one mistake I likely would have hit the 40's on my kill streak. I didn't die for the rest of the round after that :|

I had a couple of my best rounds last night, too.  I moved from 1.11 to 1.14 yesterday alone.

As far as K/D I only moved up to 1.90. I was at 1.91 and then had one particularly awful game where I went 25/21 and dropped back down a notch.

It's getting to a point where I doubt I'll be able to continue raising it. I had that game where I went 67/6 and it only went up .02 (from 1.88) and then one badly played game and I'm back down. I think I'm going to focus more on the Wins leaderboard from this point on. That seems the more important thing anyway really

I did some math to see what it will take for me to get to a 2.0 k/d and sadly I'd need to go 18-6 for 1000 straight matches to get that. ah well My kills are high enough now that I need a change of hundreds of kills to make a visible difference.

I couldn't care less about the wins leaderboard because a full 50% or more of my losses and probably 10% of my wins are from games that ended early due to host quitting or losses from backing out to grab a friend who got dropped.

This account would be used for playing MP games after I'm familiar with them to see what my K/D would be once I'm up to speed on the maps, techniques and weapons.

I have a 3 day temp pass for Live at home. I may give it a go when I get home.

I bet ATB could be 4.0 or higher, I know I could be if I hadn't started off playing so much domination and the like.  I often go with 11-1 odds or greater and sometimes 20-0.  My bad games are usually 2-1 any more with the occasional once a night 1-2.  I had 4 games in a row with over 30 kills and as many as 46 with between 1-5 deaths.  It's very doable but the learning curve ate up any chance I have at having a real k/d until I'm in the 100,000 kill area.

Are we talking about the real COD4 or the funky hardcore thing with your sniper rifle and assault rifle combo where you can find the correct corner of most maps and never be touched? I feel like its an important distinction.

Normal COD4, I have a worse record in Hardcore mode, I just enjoy it more.

Yeah I'd actually say it would be far from difficult to keep a k/d ratio up above 5 or 6ish if you could just suddenly reset your counts after you'd learned the game and earned all the perks and weapons.

I'm now a huge believer in the M-16 as got the 150 kill challenge in a just a few matches. Zow!

I wanted to play a bunch tonight but Live is so goddamn broken right now I can't join any rooms from invites. I can hit "Find Game" all by myself but I can't join any rooms made by friends.

I got in one game of hardcore team DM, one game of regular team DM, and then just quit. It sucks seeing a big group from your friends list in one game and not being able to join it no matter how many invites they send you.

Did raise my K/D back up to 1.91 in those two games though.
