I take it there are no race restrictions in guilds?  Any race preference for Wanderers or does it matter at all? I made a Snake worshiping Xolti.  Barely got to play yesterday as the father in law came over soon after the servers went back up.  I plan on having a marathon session today when I get back form my job interview and trying out some different race/class combos.  I imagine it will be a bit before I decide on a main.  This is the fist MMORPG I haven't betad since DAOC and I have to say that I might not ever beta again.  It tends to sour me on the early game and take away all the anticipation / excitement of launch.

No race or class preferences or restrictions, just come join the fun, glad to have you back!!!

Dangit all to hell. I have a level 22 guardian on a different server. I thought you all were going PvP so I didn't bother. Wish I could transfer my character.

At least levelling isn't too slow.  My first character took most of the early access to get to 20, my second was 20 in a day, so about 6 hours I think.

So how does that work, exactly? Do you get the skills, feat points, and abilities of that level? Then you go back to your original level when you de-group?

I think like City of Heroes, it just scales up your hp/attack rating and other stats to that level.  You don't get new skills.  You are able to contribute but you are obviously not as good as a someone with a natural level.

I was playing a guardian and love the class but when it comes to leveling again I might go with something a bit different. I'm guessing there are a ton of guardians in the guild already?

Sparhawk - Guardian

Kaltorok - Dark Templar

Belgarion - Conquerer

Kaltorok is made already I'll hop online now. Took the week off just to play and now I'm starting over again. =( Sucks I'll be so behind everyone but at least I'll have people to play with who I know.

Just going through the destiny quests will get you there pretty quickly, other than a brief trip to the day side to hit 19.  I got to 15 with a Priest of Mitra in right about 3 1/2 hours that way.

Efficient questing is the key, as is the destiny quests.  I jumped right into it as soon as I hit Tortage and made it to 13 by the time I hit the part that required lvl 15.  Jumped out and did a bunch of quest collecting then hit White Sands and completed 7 or 8 quests while there, which after turn ins jumped me up high enough to continue my destiny quest.

I'll have to keep that in mind when I create my alt.  I'm at level 18 after about 15 hours of playtime and I'm chomping at the bit to get out of Tortage.  Of course I may try and find someone to group with to do some of the areas on the Epic setting to get the extra XP.

Epic zone may not be worth it for xp.  It takes too long to kill a mob.  I got 5 times the xp but it took me 10 times longer to bring down the mob.  So from efficiency point of view, probably not worth it.

how do they break down XP if you have 2 or more people grouped together?  I'm thinking if it's not a major drop that might make Epic better for grouping.  seeing as how much harder it is to kill something they may be made just for that.

Groups receive a small bonus to XP gained from kills.

Yup, thanks, I signed up the other day. I'll click on that email and make a post over there requesting a spot in the guild.

I'm coming in intending to be VERY casual, though. I'm thinking just a few hours a week. I got addicted to WoW and it nearly took me down.

EDIT: Installing now. I can hear faint lamentations already.

I hear ya man. I was and am the same way. Only about 2-3 hours a day here, well until I finish some rpg's then who knows. I don't think the same sucks, yet. I do think better optimization is needed, but I digress. I just don't want to get stuck my usual MMO rut. I missed out on lots of good games and built a huge backlog thanks to wow.

Plus working 2nd shift pretty much kills any chance of being hardcore raider again.

Just another brief update after the long weekend:

I've lost count of how many people we have now, especially with more and more alts creeping in  icon_wink  However, I'm fairly certain the actual number of discrete members is at least 50, possibly close to 60.  At any given time when I was on, there were always between 20-30 people on, even late late into the night.  Best numbers we've had in years, and it's been so nice to see a mix of old friends as well as make a lot of new ones.  For me personally, it's been a treat getting to interact with guildies from virtually every MMO I've played the past 7 years, from DAOC/Gaheris, EQ2, SWG, WoW, SB, LOTRO, CoX, GW, etc etc.  Thanks again to everyone for making it a great guild launch experience!

As far as progress, we've got a couple of overachievers past lvl 60, a strong majority of players in the 30-50 range, and still quite a few newcomers in the Tortage/early game, so there's a great spread of people and levels.  We claimed our guild plot of land in Lacheish Plains and are in the study/discussion/wait-for-game-stability phase, and rapidly getting ready to place our guild keep.

I'm hoping to get our first big guild "activity" going this weekend, the Traditional Guild Photo extravaganza!  As always, head to the guild forums for details.

Is there a group of Wanderers on one of the role-playing servers? If so, do you have room for another player in your guild? I played on a role-playing server on WoW and really enjoyed that element of the game.

I guess I should ask this first though: How is the level of role-playing on the server? A lot of it going on?

I have a priest of whatever - the healingest healer of the healers on Derketo named Aystin.  I only made it to 6 or 7 in the hour I had to play last night.  I'm not really enjoying the healing right now, but that might because I don't have anyone to heal.  Smite, Smite, Smite, Smite, Regen self, Smite, Smite, Smite.   wasted

Don't worry my friend, we will make ample use of your healing powers once you get some levels under your belt. We took a group into Sanctum last night (high 30s zone) and got utterly pwned without a healer. They are definitely an essential key to group encounters.

PoM's are ridiculous easy to level. Once you get repluse it's really easy. I can take 3-4 guys fairly easily if they are even level. The trick is knowing that your spells can damage enemies close together. So once a guy is almost dead just move on the next. Eventually in your talent tree, you can get a talent that gives you 100% to cast emanation of life upon a melee strike, so yeah. i think fc did a good job of making the priest not suck in pve as solo.

I'm still focusing on my Thog character (I'd like to see how the 30-40 Destiny stuff is, I'm just about 28), but I'm definitely doing subsequent ones on Derketo and I'll see about joining up if I pass mustard.  icon_cool
