So, I've been away from AoC for a while now (did buy the game when it launched though) - how much of the world can be explored and 'done' with a duo? Will you miss out on too many quests to keep leveling properly without a bigger group?

Also - any good static duo group recommendations? I've completely forgotten the classes and what they offer and such.

Almost any combo works great imo.  Kato and I had a grand time as a duo of HoX.

Can you seriously get by without any sort of healer? Or would a healer allow you the ability to get into somewhat harder situations without issue?

I forget, did they ever make it possible to skip Tortage and dive right in?  I've been thinking of going back but I just don't have the heart to do Tortage yet again, no matter how quickly it can go by.

Yep.  Can only do this once, however.

I say bite the bullet and do Tortage again.  This game has come a long way.  I'm kind of digging it right now in a hippie, uncommitted sort of way.

I made a necro on Set by the name of Crool, level 44/45, now.  My how the levels fly by on a PvE server.

Kato and I are playing on a pvp server and having a blast.  Game still has some issues that I thought would be resolved by now, but overall it's much better.  (you still can't stealth if anyone in your group is in combat even if you aren't near them, really rough on a pvp server as an assassin.  was one of my major complaints back at launch)

Right now we are running a Ranger and Assassin duo and it's doing well in open pvp.  Ranger can track targets and find out any other players are in the vicinity. The Assassin can pretty much burst down his first target while the Ranger roots.

You guys should play Darkfall.  Simply the most player skill intensive PvP MMO ever.  Twitch FPS players thrive and its only getting better.

I was going to suggest this earlier but got distracted and didn't know whether it was still viable.  I had a great deal of success with this strategy in the early days.  Seems like it might be even more viable with all the positive changes to assassin.

Which server are you on?  I still have many chars on Cimmeria and 1 on Tyranny.

You know, I would definitely do this, but feel like Darkfall is really a deep investment game (to its credit) and I don't have the time to be at all hard core about MMO's anymore.

I didn't like Darkfall at all.   My sister has been trying to get me to play it for a long time.

I was given a 60 day time card late last week and messed around with it over the weekend...I think I'm going to push on up to 80 (54 now), but it would be much better if I had some folks to tackle some of the group stuff with.

it is usually Lyntarra or Kelnn I play the most. Lyntarra is my main, but since I just got her to 50, I will probably play my Bear Shaman a bit now.

PVE, since I was there from the beginning, and PVP servers were horrible horrible places where gangs ran crazy in the streets, slaugthering everything in their path. I quickly decided I didnt want to be slaugthered everytime I left the inn :-D

edit: I always wanted a pvp conan though, but I think its kinda hard to implement in any way that would appeal to me. The mass battles and fort takeovers sounds like ridicoules fun, but never actually tried it.

Very intense and brutal on a pvp server.  However, Hark or I pretty much wouldn't play if our counterpart was not online.  When we would turn in our quests, 1 of us would stealth and stand guard while the other turns it in to the NPC.

Got this e-mail from Funcom today, I guess they're reactivating old accounts for free play through May:

I think I still have it installed though I imagine I would have some hellacious patching to do. I wish there was some way to calculate whether it would be quicker to patch like mad, or d/l the latest client.
