I get headaches if I play normal CoD4 for a while (from the movement, I imagine),

Did you always? I think we may have spent a fair time playing COD4 together and I don't remember you having issues.  Maybe we didn't hook up until BF:BC, though...

No, we played CoD4, I probably just never mentioned it, I would just choose those times to sign off or I would play through it.

Sorry for my generally crappy demeanor last night - I think I played too long yesterday and got into a rut late. When I start screaming into the mic, that should be a sign for me to sign off.

I got an update when I signed on last night.  Anyone know where to find the list of changes short of digging through the Treyarch forums?

I can't believe they are doing it again so soon. Here's the info from the website:

Quote
In lieu of the festivities which will no-doubt keep most of you in front of your TV's all weekend, we've decided to initiate yet another weekend of Double-XP Jan 30 Feb 1 to compliment The Big Game!

Not only will you be receiving Double-XP, but we're introducing two new playlists to the Xbox 360 and PS3 by popular request: Team Tactical (4v4) and Mercenary TDM (no parties allowed)! Team Tactical will pit two teams of four against each other in a random rotation of all the Team-Based gametypes.

It all starts tomorrow morning PST (Friday the 30th)

I doubt I will take advantage of this one like the last, but I'm sure I'll get some rounds in.

A question to the experts: How do you aim the coaxial machine gun on the tank? I tried it once but the gun just seemed to fire whereever it wanted.

There are lots of times that I feel I could light d00dz up with a machine gun while my main gun inexplicably misses, but I wonder if the MG is worth sacrificing the quicker loading time.

And hallelujah for Mercenary TDM.

Just with the reticule, but it only has a small firing arc at the front of the tank.

From my experience, it's mounted on the hull of the tank rather than the turret, so it's possible with driving experience to cover two arcs.  You can hold the turret steady while sweeping an area as you manuever the tank body.  But it's been a while since I used it, so I may be off base.

Thanks for that. I wonder though if it's worth having instead of the quicker reload.  I'm guessing no but I might experiement again.

If you want to be better against infantry without sacrificing as much anti-tank ability, consider the leadfoot perk.

  • Harder for infantry to come up behind you for satchels & stickies
  • Harder for bazookas to hit you when you're moving
  • Easier for you to keep up with fleeing infantry
  • Easier for you to get an angle on infantry right next to you
  • Easier for you to search the map for new infantry targets
  • And while you don't fire as fast in a tank duel, you can hit and run easier, get to their backside quicker, and just plain flee better when you want to

Went 40-12 in a match this past weekend- for the most kills I've had in a WaW match (45 in COD4). On the action tab it showed me as everyone on the opposite team's nemesis. That made me smile.

Must have been on Dome?  I went 67-22 there last night on Domination.  6 recon planes, 3 Arty, 3 rounds of dogs.

I had my misgivings about WaW in the beginning, but I think I was so entrenched with CoD4's faster and more accurate weapons that WaW seemed sluggish.  Granted I still like CoD4 better, but the multitude of game modes in WaW are making up for that (even though I mostly play Domination...)

Shockingly enough it was on Courtyard.  The Weghted Companion Cube will never threaten to stab you.

I agree 100%. Now that I'm used to it, I'm really enjoying it...and now...COD4 seems too easy to bring down a target...but I guess that's the point of weapons technology advancement.   retard

42-4 on roundhouse last night.

Have people already stopped playing this game? I'm seeing a consistent number north of 120k online, but I don't know what the numbers were when it first came out.

Depends.

Had a similar lopsided match on Courtyard (20+ kills ahead of the next person) and a 35+ K/D spread, but the next match on...Asylum iirc was horrid.  Had a -20 K/D spread and was camped the whole game.

Depends on the map and momentum rather than the talent pool sometimes.

What weapons and tactics are you using to rack up these magnificent scores?  I think the best I've ever done was maybe 25-1, and that was in a tank when nobody bothered to try to take me out.

I jumped on last night and quit in disgust after about 3 kills in 4 matches.

That's what I'm trying to figure out! Am I just somehow in synergy with this game right now, or are all the good players no longer playing? I've never put up numbers like this so consistently in any MP game ever.   My skills in mp I would say are somewhat above average, so for me to consistently be pulling in 3 4 or 5 to one Kds so often is odd.

In the 42-4 match, it was a tank map, and I called dogs 3 times (14 kills) so the numbers are somewhat inflated. But my previous best was on Makin...sooo....?

I mostly use the MP40 with stopping power and deep impact. My tank kit is that plus satchels.  My tactics are pretty much the same for all SP games. Aggression and short to middle range engagement.

However on probably 1/3 of the maps my kit is the DP 28 with stopping power and deep impact.  Any map with longer sight lines (cliff side, airfield etc) that's my standard kit so I have more range.

I'm sure it will get very hot again when the new maps come but the number of people playing it appears quite healthy, regardless. I think SF is the only recent MP game to pull people away.  That both CoD4 and CoD5 can stay in the top 5 together is damn impressive.

Yeah, when I got on Live last night there were over 150,000 people in CoD5, which is the most I think I've ever seen playing it.  If anything, the numbers just keep going up.

Apparently the tide went out.  There's no deep water, so no getting the challenge for falling and living.  Doing it now is death.  And that achievement is much more fun to get on Cliffside or Dome.  It also appears that the water edge of the map has been moved in as well.
