Pure joy:

Being killed by a camper, knowing where he is, going back to that spot after respawning, and killing him with a cooked grenade.

true camping is a skill you need to develop, and to paraphrase kenny 'beadface', you need to know when to hold on to them, and know when to fold and run.  as msteelers points out, all the really good camping spots are known, and it's up to you to either secure them with betties, change it up a bit by being just off the usual spot, or be willing to relocate if the enemy knows you are there and makes a concerted effort to get you.

the power of a good camp spot is offset by the knowledge once everyone knows you are there.  there are some maps where it's really easy to relocate from decent spots (seelow, church tower in outskirts, shady grass in makin and courtyard) and in that case, it's best to avoid the alternatives unless you know it's clear.  but no spot is unsurmountable, and glitchers tend to be identified pretty quickly, even in HC as it's easy to spot people doing abnormal behavior where a glitch is exploited.

I get the concept of camping and use it appropriately...but there are folks who camp the whole match...

Then you have two options:  Make them pay by killing them repeatedly or ignore their area and give them nothing at which to shoot.

Double XP, Nazi Zombie Weekend!

As is often the want, Call of Duty fans will be able to log into World at War on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this weekend to enjoy double experience points when playing multiplayer online playlists. A second "gift" from Treyarch comes in the form of the Nazi Zombie mode unlock; usually gamers need to have beaten the single-player campaign before they gain access to this co-op mode, but over the duration of the double XP weekend, this gametype will be unlocked and available to everyone.

Crud. Of course they do this on the one weekend when I will be struggling to find some time to play. I've got the girlfriends parents in town, working Saturday, football and birthday party Sunday.

Will this extend through Monday? I get Monday off of work and will be able to play all day.

Is this a double XP weekend?  I'm getting 20 points a kill, but match bonus wasn't anything extra.

well, I'm stuck working all 4 days, but only because the boss is out of town, and I have a bunch of books piled up here, so it'll be like a paid reading vacation.

This game is really starting to click for me and I'm enjoying it quite a bit.  CSL and I are a pretty good team together and we had a very strong run last night.  He was unstoppable and I was mostly incapable of being stopped.   We also played with BEEFHAMMA and he had some very strong performances as well.

last night I braved the PUG's to try some modes other than Team DM and found Ground War to be pretty fun.  I also noticed not alot of people were talking at all, which was fine by me.

another thing that was weird was that no one was using betties.  oh, and when you get killed by arty the kill cam is pretty hilarious.

Well, absent a solid wingman, i struggled the rest of the weekend and watched my stats drop like a stone.  I then discovered FFA as an uber way to boost stats. So that's what I did mostly Saturday night.  nod

Played online for a bit this weekend and just had horrible match after horrible match, although surprisingly my K/D ratio still hangs around 0.85.  Double XP isn't all that big a draw when you're only getting 4-5 kills per match.  Ugh.  Got so bad Sunday that I pulled the disc out, shelved it in the other room, and vowed not to return to it for awhile.  Later tonight is "awhile", right?   disgust

I finally got around to registering that the COD HQ website. I tried looking up my stats but it seems that the web page isn't working right, half my stats don't come up, like weapons usage. And it seems to hang a lot. Is it really that bad or have I not done something right?

Gewehr 43 --  5559
STG-44  --  4074
T34 Tank -- 2116
Dog -- 2080
Panzer Tank -- 1758

I guess this shows a lot about how I play as well. slywink

My favorite stat is still Bouncing Betty -- 68 since I've still never equipped them.

grats on your tank run Hardon. Keep that up and you won't have to play FFA anymore.

So I wound up playing a little normal FFA yesterday and I seriously doubt that I'll do that again. I was using the Thompson with stopping power, and after killing one enemy, it was already prompting me to reload. It doesn't take Halo/GoW amounts of ammo to take someone down, but it still seems a bit ridiculous. It definitely seems like it takes a lot more bullets than in CoD4 normal mode. Plus you have to get moving after every shot, although that applies more to FFA than TDM.

Ran into a 10th prestige at one point. I think the guy had 13 days logged. Crazy.

The drum attachment helps with reloads.  On the whole, did you find regular more difficult than hc or vice versa?

Well, harder at least because I wasn't used to it, and it is probably harder regardless because you have to put more fire on someone to kill them and it is harder to get a streak going. Hardcore definitely fits my skillset better - less frantic, doesn't rely as much on quick twitches. I get headaches if I play normal CoD4 for a while (from the movement, I imagine), and I have only experienced a headache once playing CoD5 HC.

Did you always? I think we may have spent a fair time playing COD4 together and I don't remember you having issues.  Maybe we didn't hook up until BF:BC, though...
